Employment Opportunities – Micro Finance Industry

Micro Africa Ltd (MAL) is a well established micro-finance institution with operations through-out the East African region and provides credit services and financial solutions to organized groups, businesses and individuals.

MAL is part of the Letshego Holdings Ltd, which is listed in the Botswana Stock Exchange.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions:

General Manager – Consumer Lending

This is a senior position responsible for growing a quality consumer lending loan book.

  • The position should deliver the budget and provide effective supervision of all sales staff across Kenya.
  • The position should develop and maintain the current business relationships with various ministries and stakeholders.
  • Develop a sales strategy for the market and ensures attainment of set targets and profitability.
  • Monitor daily progress towards financial self-sufficiency through Sales Agents productivity; design interventions and adjust policies to improve performance and outreach of the consumer lending product.
  • Ensure services delivered are consistently supported by well documented policies and procedures, well understood by all staff and process maps are developed to ensure efficiency.

Qualifications and experience
  • A Degree certificate from a recognized institution in business or related fields.
  • At least 8+ years of work experience in sales with 3+ years in senior position with supervision responsibilities
  • Team player with diverse leadership skills gained in financial services sales

Finance Manager

The overall responsibilities of the above position are to manage and report on the finance function of the company.

Key performance areas include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensuring the financial controls, policies and procedures are adequate, effective and are complied with
  • Ensuring that financial and operational forecasts and budgets are produced to a high level of technical and contextual quality
  • Providing quality management and financial information in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring compliance in all tax matters
  • Ensuring the company’s resources and assets are appropriately safeguarded
  • Annual external audit and financial reporting co-ordination, management, resolution
  • Maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including banks, regulators, external and internal auditors
  • Managing performance and progression of finance team.

Qualifications and Experience
  • A fully qualified Chartered Accountant: CPA/CA/ACCA/CIMA.
  • Masters would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant banking or financial services experience.
  • Proficiency in information systems
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, high integrity and good interpersonal skills

Credit Officer

The primary responsibilities of the Credit Officer will be:-
  • Manage start to end credit process
  • Participate in aggressive marketing campaigns across the region
  • Meet set monthly and annual targets in terms of loan portfolio disbursement
  • Business assessment and appraisal visits
  • Collections and maintaining quality portfolio
  • Ongoing customer interaction, resolving their issues and ensuring customer retention
  • Maintain custody of all loans information and supporting documents in a secure complete, orderly and accessible manner.
  • Play a key role in business development and direct customer relationship management.

Qualifications and experience
  • A Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Cooperative Management or related fields.
  • Diploma in Micro Finance will be an added advantage
  • Proven 2-3 years experience in lending and quality portfolio management in a successful MFI.
  • Excellent client generation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with a dynamic and multicultural team

Sales Agents

The company is in the process of growing the government payroll portfolio and wishes to recruit self motivated and result oriented sales agents responsible for:
  • Selling and marketing of government lending products and relationship
  • Ensuring the marked territory achieves or exceeds the required quota.
  • Independently develop processes to obtain leads through possible sourcing opportunities, and work closely with government agencies to leverage prospects/clients
  • Contact potential clients to assess their individual needs and demonstrate how the products can meet their needs
  • Maintain accurate up-to-date sales pipeline and forecasts.

Qualifications and Experience
  • A Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related fields. Diploma in Micro Finance will be an added advantage
  • Excellent marketing and selling skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with a dynamic and multicultural team
