Seeking innovative off-grid solutions to “power up” rural Kenya

Maximum award $100,000 (8,750,000 shillings)

Many marginalized communities, agribusinesses, and small enterprises lack access to power.

But we know that Kenyans are driving economic growth with innovative, renewable energy solutions.

We want your answer to delivering power to underserved areas.

Eligible applicants include:

  • Energy Service Providers: To deliver renewable energy to underserved marginal populations not serviced by the power grid;
  • Community Associations, Cooperatives and Organizations: To secure energy for sustainable uses. This could include acquiring a proven technology or service to benefit its members.
  • Private Company developing Energy Enabling Technology: To create innovative approaches to metering, payment, collections, and/or transmission appropriate for off-grid solutions.
