Operations and Technical Services
Our client
Kilimanjaro Airports Development Company (KADCO) is an independent company that
holds a concession to manage and develop the Kilimanjaro International Airport
(KIA) and its estate.
Areas of
work would include, airport operations, airport regulations, developing and
enforcing safety and security programmes, airport (estate) development, airport
maintenance and staff and budgetary management.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and submit to the Board strategic plans that focus on the development of the Airport including expansion, alterations and new services;
- Initiate, prepare and compile budgets for maintenance, installation and upgrading of equipment and facilities of the division;
- Provide leadership to managers in Operations, Security, Technical Services and Estate and Environment;
- Ensure adherence to airport operations policy and procedures as specified in MA Aerodrome Manual, TCAA and ICAO;
- Design, develop, implement and monitor a Safety Management System that ensures practical and highest level of safety at the airport;
- Develop and communicate the Airport Emergency Plan and other contingency plans for the airport;
- Coordinate and manage terminal and airside operations, which include: Apron Management, Security Services, and Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (RFFS);
- Monitor and prevent any unauthorized erection of structures, buildings, heaps and any other structural development on airport premises;
- Conduct all major repairs, installation, modification, erection, demolition of civil and electrical works; and oversee airport infrastructure rehabilitation projects;
- Grow and sustain effective working relationship with government agencies and regulatory bodies in order to obtain relevant information and ensure compliance and high quality service to airport users;
- Ensure that an adequate number of qualified managers are employed, oriented, trained and developed to head the departments within the Directorate;
- Compile periodic reports in relation to expenditures, status of RFFS facilities, technical equipment and safety standards;
- Liaise with Arusha and Moshi Regional Authorities and Institutions on land issues and other public utilities within and around the airport vicinity; and
- Management, protection and improvement of KIA’s local environment and estates and take conscious action for sustainable development.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
- Masters degree in Business Management or related field and University degree or equivalent operational/technical qualifications;
- 10 years of relevant experience in a related field and at least 6 years in a management position in operations, security and or safety within the aviation industry is absolutely essential;
- Advanced knowledge of ICAO standards in relation to airport operations, security and infrastructure;
- Highly independent and driven with the ability to build and maintain relationships; and
- Fluency in English with knowledge of Swahili.
