Legal Affairs Officer
Job Ref: PC/HRM/1/8/2013-14
Grade: PC4
The Officer’s responsibilities will
include:
Assisting
in the provision of legal advice to the Commission;
Assisting
in preparation and arranging of all Commission meetings and those of its
committees and producing minutes for dissemination to members;
Assisting
in the implementation and ensuring compliance of the Commission with all
ethical, legal and statutory requirements;
Assisting
in building of alliances with external lawyers on all legal matters;
Assisting
in research on various legal aspects and processes relating to the mandate of
the Commission;
Assisting
in drafting contracts, agreements and providing litigation support;
Assisting
in formulation and drafting guidelines to be issued under the Privatization
Act;
Participating
in Commission’s contractual negotiations;
Undertaking
any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
Ideal qualifications, knowledge and
experience
- Must have a bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from a recognized university and be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- A master’s degree and/or Certified Public Secretary qualification will be an added advantage;
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a busy legal environment;
- Commercial transaction experience will have an added advantage;
- Have outstanding integrity with commitment to the course of justice and public interest;
- Have proven advocacy skills with ability to communicate clearly and confidently;
- Must be able to work in a team, under pressure and able to demonstrate initiative with little or no supervision and against targets and
- Be proficient in computer applications.
