We serve nearly 10,000 people every single day with hygienic sanitation through a network of over 200 Fresh Life Toilets.

Role & Responsibilities

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overall operation and administration of the laboratory including establishing of sampling procedures, developing and implementing of laboratory methods to analyze feces, urine, compost and other samples of human waste products for microbiological and analytical parameters.

The Laboratory Supervisor organizes and controls all aspects of the laboratory environment.

This includes but is not limited to supervising the general workflow, maintenance of equipment, as well as quality control, environmental, health and safety.

The Laboratory Supervisor reports directly to the R&D Manager.

Key Accountabilities
  • Organize and manage the daily workflow in the laboratory, develop weekly work plans and ensure that tasks are performed efficiently according to quality and safety standards
  • Develop and continuously improve methods for analysis of microbiological and analytical parameter for feces, urine, compost and other human waste products
  • Conduct risk assessment for the laboratory and ensure that local Environmental, Health and Safety requirements are fulfilled
  • Conduct regular EHS Audits and ensure staff compliance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Develop and implement work instructions, laboratory manuals, quality control measures and health and safety guidelines 
  • Maintain laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations , quality, and troubleshooting procedures as well as preventive monitoring schedules
  • Monitor results and ensure quality by making adjustments in methods and procedures, generating reports and maintaining records.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies.
  • Ensure laboratory is kept in good tidy order and equipment is well functioning by certifying instrument performance as well as arranging for equipment replacement, service, and repair.
  • Evaluate and complete performance appraisals, promote the continuing professional development of staff and oversee the training of new staff
  • Interpret, document  and manage data as well as provide reports on results to the respective departments

Requirements
  • Minimum of an Upper Second Class, with honors, Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience OR
  • Minimum of an Upper Second Class, with honors, Master’s Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1 year working experience
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Mechanical competency and experience in maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Strong in problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Detail and result oriented
