The
Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) is a national independent, non
profit, membership organisation for media women from the print, electronic
media and communications sector.
The Board
of AMWIK wishes to recruit a qualified and dedicated individual to fill the
position of Executive
Director.
Job Purpose:
Reporting
to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director shall be expected to provide
strategic leadership, conceptualization and guidance in programmes,
administration, finance and human resource management.
She shall
ensure coordinated, effective and efficient programme delivery, high team
morale and cost effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Implement the decisions of the Board and undertake all activities that will advance the vision, mission, strategic plan and Constitution of AMWIK;
- Oversee the development, review and compliance with institutional policy and manuals on human and institutional resources, security, programme, administration, finance and the Board;
- Fundraising for the Association and ensuring the formulation and successful implementation of AMWIK programmes;
- Serve as AMWIK’s senior-most representative, to ensure that staff and activities adhere to the Association’spolicies and regulations;
- Provide and coordinate technical leadership to all aspects of project implementation, maintaining the highest of quality standards;
- Review all technical and financial reports for submission to relevant organisations;
- Provide leadership, represent and coordinate donor and partner liaison, compliance and reporting at the national, regional and international levels;
- Secretary to the Board and custodian of up-to date records of the Association and perform any other duties as may be directed by the Board.
Qualifications and Competencies
- MA in communication, development studies and related fields from a recognized university;
- At least seven years management experience, five of which must be at senior management level;
- Experience in fundraising, strategic management and project evaluation;
- Skills in people management and mentoring;
- A record of proven performance, be self-driven, result-oriented and possess excellent public relations and communication skills.
