to fill the following position
Finance Controlling
Officer (Africa)
Based in
Nairobi with frequent travel to African Countries
Under the
supervision of the Finance and Administration Coordinator, the Finance
Controlling Officer will be responsible for financial monitoring and auditing
of projects funded from various sources.
Duties
include providing financial training to our implementing partners, recommending
strict and proper financial procedures, and detecting malpractices.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial data controlling.
- Comparison of budgeted and actual activities, with an explanation of any variance.
- Review of local operating systems, administrative practices.
- Management support, coordination mechanisms (informal and formal).
- Investigation for possible misuse or misappropriation of funds.
- Provide qualified opinion on accounting system as a whole.
- Uncover any weaknesses of managerial and financial system.
- Train implementing partners and Diakonie staff on financial procedures.
- Check bank and cash reconciliation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum 3 Years humanitarian experience in auditing and accounting.
- University degree in accounting or business related field.
- Professional qualification, CPA/ACCA final preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with good spoken and written English.
- Knowledge of French will be an added advantage.
- Excellent working knowledge of computer software: MS Word, Excel, Email applications Quickbooks, and one additional accounting software is required.
This will
be a three month contract with possible extension / renewal.
