Sales and Marketing Director
My
client, a venture in the booming building material sector is recruiting a
“Sales Director” to support its business growth; the role is based in Nairobi
with travel in the region.
He/she
will be participating in managing cash flow, producing management reports,
process aligning and process improvement, cost control, revenue enhancement and
human resource management.
His/
her responsibilities will include creation, development and execution of sales
and marketing strategies and plans.
This
will encompass positioning the organisation to meet the current and future
needs for the market segments of the company and the development of sales and
marketing strategies that will keep our customers at the forefront of the
building and construction industry.
The
Sales Director is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the
company’s competitive position.
This
individual will be a change agent, will take a leadership role in sales and
marketing innovation, understand what the ultimate buyer desires and bring to
the company the competency necessary to achieve these goals.
Key responsibilities:
- Build a strong
network across East Africa for sales opportunities, including property
developers, government procurement officers, building contractors,
hardware stores, retailers, supermarkets etc;
- Identify, open,
and manage credible wholesale and retail accounts.
- Perform market
research including competitor prices and competitor strategies and develop
a sales strategy across product, territory, customers.
- Develop the
sales objectives and strategy for the company;
- Prepare the
sales forecast based on the sales strategy and objectives of the company.
- Communicate,
implement and monitor the sales forecast against actual taking
responsibility for explaining variances to managing director.
- Determine
pricing strategy for products and implement this strategy.
- Conduct product
knowledge training for internal sales team and retail partners’ sales
staff.
- Oversee the
sales department and ensure utilisation of resources to its maximum
capacity.
- Drive the
development of talent within the department and division.
- Develop
processes to expedite change and efficiencies throughout department
- Monitor and
report weekly sales and perform weekly analysis of sales by product type,
customer, sales value.
- Monitor sales
trend and communicate these trends internally·
- Develop
marketing strategy including branding, product innovation, press
communication.
Desired
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 5-7
years senior position in a sales role in wholesale or retail industry.
- Proven track
record of developing sales strategy that has generated increased sales
revenue.
- Decision making
capability clearly driven by sales strategy and business initiatives
- Leadership
capabilities to inspire and motivate a team
- Exceptional
analytical and project management skills
- Clear and
concise written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Possess a clear
understanding of financial measurements and how to impact them
- Established
network in building and construction industry and demonstrate ability to
build and maintain relationships with internal cross-functional teams and
external partners
- Working
knowledge in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite will be an advantage.
