Field Sales Representative
My
client, a start-up venture in the booming building material sector is
recruiting a “Field Sales
Representative” to support its business growth, the role is based in Nairobi with travel in the region.

This
role would involve demonstrating and pitching products to prospective or
current customers, obtaining sales order, closing the sale and referring them
to salesmen/ despatch team at the head offices.
Essential
qualities for candidates applying for this role are excellent communication and
inter-personal skills and willingness to travel across the country.
We

This
is an entry-level career position for which we prefer previous successful work
experience in sales.
However,
we will consider exceptional recent college graduates with some relevant work
experience, excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability.
Key responsibilities:
- Effectively
perform the sales life cycle: creating leads, securing pipe-lines, provide
information or demo of the products concerned, prepare a sales order and
closing the sale (provide receipt/ invoice) in a timely basis.
- Compiles lists
of prospective customers for use as sales leads.
- Aggressively
seeking new sales opportunities by outbound calls, emails, visits to meet
or exceed monthly and quarterly quotas
- Builds a
professional rapport with prospective and current customers.
- Complies with
company policies on sales process, rapport buildings, pitching products,
pricing, discounting, credit and collections to ensure profitability.
- Demonstrates
knowledge of products of the organisation.
- Demonstrates
competence in use of proprietary electronic software and leverages
technology by using our CRM Module in SAP
- Represents the
organization at all times in a professional, competent manner, in keeping
with the high ethical and cultural standards of the organization
- Obtains,
updates, and demonstrates detailed industry, company, competitor, and
product knowledge and passes this information to relevant seniors.
- Develops a
network of individuals in the building material industry.
- Continue
developing industry knowledge and building successful sales techniques
- Works with other
sales representatives, Director of Marketing, and Business Development
Director, under the direction of the Director of Sales.
Desired
Skills & Experience
- KCSE Minimum
Grade Requirements: English B, Maths B
- Diploma/ College
Education/ University Education
- At least 2 years
proven track record in achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual goals in
wholesale sales.
- History of
experience in new business development, lead generation and closing sales.
- Outstanding
verbal communication and telephone skills
- Excellent
interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong
problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to
multi-task and handle pressure in a professional manner
- Ability to
organize and prioritize his/her time
- Self-motivated
and highly reliable
- Strong work
ethic, excellent attendance, and willingness to work long hours.
- Enjoys
challenges and a fast-paced/small office environment
- Ability to
effectively interact and communicate with all levels of employees,
management, vendors.
- Excellent
working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Understanding of
and familiarity with the Internet and PCs.
- The ability to
comfortably speak in front of a group of people.
- Knowledge of
building materials is essential but not required.
- Fluency in
English and Kiswahili
