Position: Receptionist

ACTED Kenya is looking for an experienced self driven and a self oriented professional to fill the post of a short term Receptionist;

Reporting to the Administration/HR Officer, her/his specific duties will include:
  • Welcoming, greeting and directing visitors to their destinations.
  • Receiving phone calls, determining the nature of the calls and directing callers to the appropriate departments
  • Arranging appointments and meetings when requested
  • Filing, records keeping and performing a variety of other office tasks
  • Tidying and maintaining the reception area
  • Performing other relevant duties.
Required profile
  • A diploma in secretarial, front office operations , Business management or any relevant field is desirable
  • At least one year of experience in a similar position - receptionist, customer service
  • Should be computer literate; IT proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other database applications
  • Must have knowledge of office record keeping practices and methods
  • Must be very pleasant with a warm and outgoing personality
  • Good written and spoken communications and interpersonal skills
  • A high level of organizational skills;
  • Precise attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi task
Department: GIS
 
Position: GIS Intern
 
Internship duration: 3 Months
 
Duty Station: Nairobi
 
Starting Date: June 2013

ACTED Kenya is looking for an intern in the GIS Department.

Reporting to the GIS Officer, her/his specific duties will include:
  • Identify map information needs and GIS data sources;
  • Conceptualize and prepare maps and other cartographic products; ensure that the products meet the requirements of concerned ACTED departments;
  • Work closely with the data Management Officer to ensure an accurate and dynamic linkage between GIS Unit and ACTED databases;
  • Aid in data collection, entry, and analysis as needed, ;
  • Prepare metadata for all spatial information;
  • Manage spatial datasets, and verify and update collected data; maintain the strictest confidentiality of sensitive data; ensure protocols for usage and licensing of procured GIS datasets are carefully followed;
  • Co-develop GIS components in proposals and supervise implementation of approved projects; and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by your line manager.
Qualifications/Skills Required
  • Master degree in GIS- experience in GIS work will be an added advantage
  • Good knowledge of general computer software, experience in database and programming language will be an asset
  • Experience with industry standard mapping tools (especially ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS for Server will be an asset)
  • Ability to think creatively in terms of tool and process development
  • Ability to travel to the field
  • Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing needs and responsibilities

Position: Base Cashier
 
Contract duration: Open Ended
 
Duty Station: Chemolingot
 
Starting Date: ASAP

ACTED Kenya is looking for an experienced self driven and a self oriented professional to fill the post of a cashier in Chemolingot-East Pokot.

Reporting to the Base Finance Officer, he/she will be responsible for:
  • Advance/loan follow up and procedure compliance at Base Level
  • Excel Book entries according to ACTED Standard entry grid
  • Cross check of allocation as per purchase order signed by Base Finance Officer
  • Accounting codes accuracy in cash/bank books and payment vouchers according to ACTED Standard entry grid
  • Cash flow level at base level (safe)
  • Cash transfer confirmation at Base Level according to ACTED procedures.
  • Daily Cash Counts
  • Preparation of weekly cash counts for Base Finance Officer approval (cash checking statement)
  • Preparation of monthly cash counts for Base Finance Officer and Coordination approval (cash checking statement)
  • Payment execution at Base Level (according to ACTED payment procedures)
  • Linking with Logistics on suppliers relation (payment oriented)
  • 1St  check of Base office vouchers (monthly basis)
  • Organizing photocopying of financial documentation and sending to relevant area office.
  • Assist in HR/Administration work when requested.
  • Perform other relevant duties.
Qualifications/Skills Required
  • Diploma in Business Management, finance option from a recognized Institution
  • CPA section 3 holder
  • Strong team player of high integrity, pleasant personality, ability to work under least supervision and meet strict deadlines.
  • Computer literate.
  • Two years work experience preferably in an NGO.
  • Demonstrated experience in overall responsibility and accountability for the financial management of an organization;
  • Good public Relations with strong negotiation skills.
