are a milk processing company with 3 plants based in Mombasa, North Rift and
Nairobi as have the below vacancy that we are seeking to fill with qualified
candidates.
Logistics Planner
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and
implement improvements to internal/ external logistics systems and
processes.
- Collaborate with
other departments to integrate logistics with business systems and
processes, such as sales, dispatch/ regional depots, accounts, maintenance
and transport.
- Design models,
schedules and checklists for use in evaluating logistics services to
improve supply chain efficiency and sustainability.
- Plan or
implement product movement/ distribution flow management systems to meet
production requirements.
- Monitor product
delivery processes to ensure compliance with legal requirements ensuring
delivery service compliance with company policies and procedures for
product transit and delivery.
- Direct
distribution center operation/dispatch to ensure achievement of cost, productivity,
accuracy, and timeliness objectives.
- Train dispatch
department personnel in roles/ responsibilities regarding loading
strategies.
- Maintain
logistical metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service log,
safety and training records.
- Recommend
optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, and frequency
negotiating transportation rates on services with subcontractors.
- Establish or
monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems.
- Create policies
and procedures for logistics activities and distribution.
- Plan and
implement specific customer requirements regarding customized
transportation metrics.
- Resolve problems
concerning logistics systems, product transportation and distribution with
focus on customer needs.
- Analyze the
financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing,
distribution modes, product volumes and mix, and deliveries.
- Direct inbound
or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation and depot
activities, including safety performance and logistics quality management
to improve efficiency, speed, and quality services.
- Analyze all
aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or
efficient means of transporting products/ deliveries.
- Develop risk
management programs to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios.
- Direct and
coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for
product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal
allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, and final disposal considering
product returns, crates, trays and cans.
- Promptly
communicate any forms of logistical delays to management, depot
supervisors/ customers for efficiency.
- Review national
and regional transportation/logistical reports for ways to improve
efficiency and minimize the environmental impact of logistics activities
including environmental audits for logistics activities, such as storage
and distribution.
- Develop plans
and set goals to reduce risks associated with storage or transport
activities.
Qualifications,
Skills and experience
- Degree or higher
diploma in logistics & Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or
Business Administration.
- Technical and
information technology skills (must have worked with an ERP System).
- Excellent
communication skills with strong demonstrated leadership.
- He/she should
have a proven record of innovative thinking and problem solving.
- Working
experience of not less than three years across a diverse team with hands
on experience in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership
techniques, production and quality control methods, and coordination of
people and resources.
