The Commission for University Education (CUE) is a State Corporation established by an Act of Parliament to regulate university education in Kenya. 

The Commission has been restructured to better align itself with the mandate conferred upon it by The Universities Act No. 42 of 2012 and is advertising the following positions:

Advert. No.1/2013

Deputy Commission Secretary - Research, Planning and Development (RPD) Division

Grade (CU 13) 

1 Post

The officer at this level will report to the Commission Secretary and provide leadership to RPD Division.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop policy for criteria and requirements for admission to universities;
  • Collect, disseminate and maintain data on university education;
  • Promote quality research and innovation;
  • Spearhead monitoring and evaluation of university education systems in relation to the national development goals;
  • Provide leadership on the formulation on the Commission’s research and innovation agenda;
  • Formulate and review the Commission’s development and resource mobilization strategies;
  • Oversee the overall planning and budgeting for the division;
  • Develop and manage the Commission’s performance management systems.

Deputy Commission Secretary - Administration and Finance (A&F) Division

Grade (CU 13) 

1 Post

The officer this level will report to the Commission Secretary and provide leadership to A&F Division.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of human resource, administration and Finance policies, procedures and strategies;
  • Manage staff development and performance management systems;
  • Ensure compliance with guidelines on labour laws, constitutional requirements and any other statutes issued by government from time to time;
  • Manage the Commissions budgeting process;
  • Formulate sound strategies for the development and utilization of the commission’s assets.

Deputy Commission Secretary- Accreditation Division

GradE (CU 13) 

I Post

The officer at this level will report to tile Commission Secretary and provide leadership to Accreditation Division.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Formulate, implement and review of policies, standards and guidelines oil accreditation;
  • Manage and coordinate all accreditation functions in the Commission;
  • Oversee file overall planning and budgeting for the division;
  • Oversee the management and development of the Commission’s resource centre;
  • Coordinate strategic planning for the division.
a) Requirements for All Appointments

i. Academic qualifications: Earned Doctorate degree and ten (10) years post experience or earned Masters Degree and fifteen (15) years post-experience.

ii. Experience: Must have served for one term at the level of Deputy Vice Chancellor or equivalent or at senior level of Dean of Faculty/School and above or equivalent for a minimum of ten (10) years.

iii. Suitable candidates must have a:

a. Thorough knowledge of university sector;

b. Thorough understanding of national goals, policies and development objectives;

c. Relevant professional competence;

d. Demonstrable achievement of performance targets and results;

e. Thorough understanding of budgeting process.
