Social Worker 

Reports to: Friends of Rang’I (FoR) - Kenya; Program Manager.

Based at:
FoR Office – Genga Sub-location, Central Gem Location, Rangwe Division, Homa Bay District.

Purpose of the Role:

To provide administrative role in planning and development of the program for  educational opportunities for students.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Interview and select students and provide in-service training for selection of the poor and bright students.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with children and their families.
  • Organizing social events from time to time when planned.
  • Helping children and youth to mediate any conflict that may arise.
  • Maintaining a family profile for each child, he/she will be responsible for looking at alternatives on how the children in their case studies can be reintegrated back to their families.
  • Make regular visits to the Schools that each child attends and report to Head of Children's Home and Program Manager on progress of each child.
  • Counsel children in adjustment and academic problems.
  • Be able to effectively de-escalate crisis situations, both verbally and physically if necessary.
  • Prepare budget and determined allocation of funds for students in sponsorship
  • Maintain inventory of school needs of each student and purchase and distribute at appropriate times
Skills and Experience
  • Diploma in social work
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Psychological Counselling Skills
  • Planning & Organisational Skills
  • Proven Team Working Skills
  • Relevant Degree/Diploma and work experience
  • Knowledge of severely emotionally and behaviorally disturbed youth  (previous experience preferred)
Salary: KShs: 15,000/=
