Project Coordinator

The Project Coordinator is responsible for leading project management of Land O’Lakes’ APHIA IMHARISHA Economic Strengthening subgrant to AMREF as part of the larger APHIA IMHARISHA Project, including:
  • Leading work planning and coordination, activity implementation, project monitoring and report writing;
  • Monitoring and management of the project budget;
  • Management of field staff;
  • Representation to AMREF and other stakeholders.
The position requires significant experience and knowledge in project coordination and skills in work plan development, management, report writing as well as technical knowledge, and experience in agriculturally-focused economic strengthening and livelihoods.

Candidates must fulfill the following qualifications:
  • Kenyan citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, livestock, agriculture, economics, or related field of study.
  • Five (5) years or more of progressively responsible work experience in managing and implementing multi-faceted donor-funded livelihoods, livestock and/or crops development programs in Kenya.
  • Substantial project management experience and knowledge including direct supervision of professional and support staff; and working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Fluency in English with excellent writing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in leading, supervising, coaching and developing others.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in fostering and leveraging strategic partnerships
  • Ability to coordinate, collaborate, and negotiate with clients, host government officials, NGOs, sub-grantees in implementing project activities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to dialogue, network, and negotiate with funding organizations, community groups, private sector organizations and local governments.
