Instruments Engineer

 
Job Purpose:

To ensure proper maintenance/functioning and control systems and equipments in Factory.
Reporting to Engineering Manager (Electrical)

Key Responsibilities
  • To ensure proper operation and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems in the factory.
  • To timely initiate the procurement/replenishments of relevant spares for the instrumentation and control systems.
  • To ensure proper functioning and maintenance of the weighbridges and other weighing/measuring equipment and branded sugar packaging equipment.
  • To calibrate and standardize all scales in line with Government regulations.
  • To ensure proper adjustment and setting of the safety shutdown systems of the equipment in the plant
  • to efficiently carry out preventive maintenance of all plant instrumentation and control systems.
  • To ensure installation and commissioning of the instrumentation equipment in liaison with relevant authorities.
  • To ensure accurate maintenance of al instrumentation, control systems and equipment inventory.
  • To carry out suitable modifications to improve/sustain operations.
  • To liaise with other departments to ensure that all instrumentation equipments are functioning.
Qualifications
  • Bsc Electronics Instrumentation or equivalent
  • Computer literate
  • Experience
  • 5 or more years
Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Full understanding in instrumentation and control engineering in manufacturing set up.
  • Practical experience in sugar industry set up will be an added advantage.
  • Must be registered with Engineers Registration Board (ERB) 30-50 years.
  • Age 30 years and above.
ICT Infrastructure Manager
 
Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of ICT, the incumbent will be responsible for the design, implementation and management of business support IT infrastructure.

Reports to Head of ICT

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing high-level support and technical expertise in networking terminology, including WAN/Hardware, hubs, bridges and routers.
  • Responsible for installation, maintenance and providing expert support for the Group servers and central computing services on platforms based on Windows and Unix.
  • Responsible for Administering and managing the enterprise databases including Oracle & SQL databases.
  • Responsible for developing and promulgating processes, policies and procedures for the IT Infrastructure services and operations.
  • Ensure that all IT Infrastructure and related applications are designed, implemented and managed to meet the business’ requirements
  • Backup & Recovery Management for the enterprise databases.
Qualification
  • Bsc. Computer Science
  • Networking Certification – Cisco/MCSE Microsoft/Novell
  • IT Service Management – ITIL Certification
  • Experience
  • 5 or more years
Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of software, hardware, systems administration, and network technology
  • Experience in network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing, Security, protocol and TCP/IP, and server and network infrastructure
  • Experience in a 24×7 service provider environment

Business Systems Administrator
 
Job Purpose:

The Business System Administrator will be responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting the ERP and Way bridge systems and other business systems . 

He/ she will ensure smooth operation of business systems and improve productivity, enhance service delivery and provide maximum performance and availability for the users.

Reports to Database and Business Systems Manager

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process review and update documentation for key cycles. (Creating Checklists for processes)
  • Administration, Configuration and Support of ERP systems;
  • Provide first level technical end user support in a mixed PC and Server environment;
  • Maintain systems backup, security and contingency plans to ensure continuity and high availability of existing business systems;
  • Liaise with external service providers to ensure maximum systems availability
  • Preparing functional specifications for reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms and workflows
  • Supporting peripheral systems and interfaces related to Finance business
  • Designing and executing test plans to ensure that business requirements and functional specifications are implemented properly and meet business objectives
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security;
  • Ensure maximum availability of systems;
  • Prepare ad-hoc and repeat reports requested by users;
  • Security access to systems.
  • Systems integration/optimization.
Qualifications
  • Database Certification; MCDBA will be an added advantage
  • BSc. Computer Science or equivalent
  • Certification in Oracle Database, SQL working knowledge of
  • ERP Systems
Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Sound knowledge on windows /Linux RDBMS administration.
  • Experience in ERP support –business process.
  • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work under pressure with tight timeliness
Experience
  • 3-5 years in a Business System environment and Database, Business System Process Design and Application.

Network Administrator

Reports to IT Infrastructure Manager

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to ensure adequate network elements support is provided to the business by installing, upgrading and maintaining NSC’s LAN/WAN infrastructure, Office Automation systems like Microsoft exchange, Share Point server and Information security products like Firewalls and patch management systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Second Level Technical & Application Support of all NSC’s infrastructure systems and IT environmental installations.
  • To ensure proper implementation and installation of IT infrastructure in cost efficient and effective manner.
  • Plan, test and implement network, Microsoft windows operating system applications and workstation hardware and software.
  • Provide network documentation, training, and guidance to computing system clients and other business analysts.
  • Install, upgrade, and configure network printing, directory structures, user access, security, software, and file services.
  • Plan, document, seek approval and execute network and system changes to enhance performance and functionality.
  • To ensure that all IT security aspects are defined, documented and implemented in accordance with the corporate Principles and Policies and in compliance with the Statements of Best Practice.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
  • Bsc. Computer Science /Information Technology
  • Network Certification/ Cisco/ Microsoft, MCSE,CCNA
Experience
  • Minimum 4 years working experience in a busy IT environment with a
  • Experienced with platform architectures (e.g. client-server, ntier, thin client)
Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Hands-on role in implementing and managing LANs and WANs.
  • Experienced in Windows Enterprise servers or UNIX systems.
  • Appropriate training in the assigned Information Systems, accompanying Operating Systems and environmental systems such as firewalls.

Shift Engineer

Reports to : Engineering Manager

Job Role
 : To effectively co-ordinate and control operations and maintenance activities for a shift and ensure the achievement of set targets.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • To operate mills efficiently and safely to attain set milling targets.
  • To operate boilers efficiently and safely to generate adequate quantity of good quality steam to run the factory.
  • To carry out repairs on the broken down equipment during the shift to minimize factory downtime.
  • To take custody of various tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair work.
  • To conduct equipment inspections during the run and recommend to the E. M. for jobs to be done during weekly maintenance.
  • To liaise with the Shift Superintendent to ensure that the process house gets adequate steam and power.
  • To liaise with the Cane-yard in-charge to ensure availability of cane and baggasse handling equipment.
  • To assess plant breakdowns and seek timely assistance from Senior Staff On-Call.
  • To write shift performance reports.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bsc (Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Must be registered with ERB.
  • Basic understanding of welding, fitting, fabrication and machine maintenance.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Good communication and report writing skills.
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience of which 3 years must be in Management position
  • Previous experience in sugar industry will be an added advantage.
  • Aged: 28 – 40 years.
