FKE seeks to ensure that national labour and social policy provides an environment favourable to enterprise sustainability and job creation. 

We are seeking to engage dynamic and results driven professionals to fill the following positions:

Chief Manager – Industrial Relations and Legal Services

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be in charge of a Strategic Division – Industrial Relations and Legal Services which ensures the delivery of quality services to FKE members in Industrial Relations and Legal Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise members on all industrial Relations and Legal Matters
  • Oversee all conciliation meeting conducted by staff in the division
  • Oversee all members’ representations at the Industrial court
  • Understand and coordinate staff managing negotiation of CBAs
  • Prepare the division’s budget
  • Ensure Membership recruitment
  • Write opinions for advocacy
  • Represent FKE in various advocacy fora
  • Manage and support all staff in the division
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Laws, Diploma in Law
  • An MBA
  • At least 10 years’ hands on experience in a similar position or having similar responsibilities
  • Knowledge of the Labour Laws
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Leadership Skills
  • Excellent Communication Skills

Chief Manager – Strategy,  Membership Development and Consultancy Services

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for transforming the quality of service by managing strategic performance which results in enhancing loyalty, retention and growth of members and other clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the individual Units’ strategies.
  • Develop and implement tactical plans to improve and grow membership services business
  • Increase and sustain growth in membership base and respective incomes
  • Increase and sustain growth in commercial business and respective incomes
  • Ensure effectiveness of infrastructure and systems for membership services such as Creation of Effective Communication lines between FKE and member organizations
  • Develop and implement management systems (policies, processes and tools) for membership services
  • Formulating, review and implementing the FKE strategy
  • Manage and support all staff in the division
  • Support development of marketing strategies that result in growth of business and incomes
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree in Business Management or other relevant qualification and an MBA
  • At least 10 years experience in management consulting services, with 5 years at a senior or management level
  • Corporate work experience especially conducting Job Evaluation exercises, Recruitment and Selection is an added advantage
  • Demonstrate strong planning and leadership skills
  • Demonstrate competencies in effective negotiation and communication
  • Experience in membership organization is an added advantage

Chief Manager – Finance & Operation Services

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will coordinate and ensure the delivery of all support services: Finance, Human Resources, General Administration, Procurement and Information Technology to ensure proper support to technical departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, formulate and ensure implementation of all support services policies and procedures
  • Develop the support services strategies such as ICT, HR
  • Manage the budgeting process
  • Manage Financial accounting and reporting for FKE
  • Formulate, Review and implement FKE financial systems
  • Taxation planning and compliance
  • Property/Asset management
  • Investment management
  • Manage and support all divisional staff
Minimum Requirements
  • University Degree in accounting from a recognised university
  • CPA (K) and an MBA from a recognized university
  • Good leadership, motivational, planning and coordination skills

Manager – Marketing and Membership Development Services

Reporting to the Chief Manager – Strategy, Membership Development and Consultancy Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining Marketing strategies; overseeing all marketing, and promotional activities that enhance the uptake of the FKE services; and increase the membership base (retention and recruitment) through business development activities by improving membership services.

Key Responsibilities;
  • Overall accountability for the organisation’s Marketing Strategies and performance of the marketing function;
  • Overseeing the development and launch of products/services repositioning and recommending suggestions on product development and packaging;
  • Oversee product research and development strategies.
  • Drive all membership development services to enhance loyalty, retention and growth,   
  • Develop and implement membership drive strategies according to market trends and customer demands;
  • Oversee business development activities and quality of services to members
  • Ensure growth in membership base and respective incomes
  • Develop effectiveness of infrastructure and systems for membership services
  • Identify and develop new business for FKE,
  • Ensuring quality of services to members
Minimum Requirements
  • MBA (Marketing), Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and at least 8 years experience in a senior management position in Marketing, Marketing campaign.
Key skills include; Effective team management, Interpersonal skills and ability to work across functions, Excellent strategic marketing (including pricing), creative and commercial agency management skills. Previous experience in a membership organization is a key advantage.

Senior Legal Officer  

2 Positions

(Nairobi & Kisumu)

Reporting to the Manager – Western Region, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing sound legal and industrial relations advice to employers. 

She/he will advise employers on negotiation procedures, employment matters, and represent them in trade disputes at the Ministry of Labour and the Industrial court. 

She/he will also be expected to contribute to membership satisfaction and growth through quality service delivery as well as recruitment of new members.

Minimum Requirements;
  • LLB from a recognized university, Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, 
  • At least 7 years post qualification experience with proven track record in litigation, 
  • Sound knowledge of labour laws and industrial relations, 
  • Demonstrated competency in drafting legal instruments including employment Contracts, memoranda, opinions and organization policies and manuals, 
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with Trade Unions and handle disputes, grievances and disciplinary issues, 
  • Ability to negotiate and prepare Collective Bargaining Agreements, 
  • Experience in training is an added advantage,
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
