Environmental Consultant Job in Kenya


Summary
 
Our client is a leading geophysical service company, delivering a wide range of technologies, services and equipment to the oil and gas industry worldwide.  

The organization is engaged in seismic data acquisition, processing, interpretation, reservoir geophysics, borehole seismic, micro-seismic, GME and multi-client surveys, equipment manufacturing and software R&D.

Reporting to HSE manager, the Environmental Consultant will provide sound advice to the company on environmental management practices to employ in the field, in order to conserve the environment and be compliant to statutory regulations.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Undertake Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Audits (EA)
  • Advise the company on up to date environmental management laws and practices
  • Ensure compliance with all legal environmental management regulations, notices, standards and codes of practice
  • Data and sample collection, processing, testing and analysis, storage  and dissemination of information to appropriate stakeholders and advising the company on appropriate measures to take
  • Advise on proper and safe disposal of black and grey water and hazardous waste to minimize adverse impact on the environment
  • Engage relevant stakeholders in the community to promote participation and cooperation in environmental management activities and initiatives
  • Advise the company on measures to take in restoration of the environment after seismic operations
Requirements
  • Degree in Environmental Science or related fields. Masters degree will be an added advantage
  • At least 5 years experience in environmental management; experience in geological, seismic, oil and gas exploration will be an added advantage
  • Excellent technical skills in environmental management especially in seismic, geological, oil and gas exploration
  • A NEMA- accredited Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Audit expert
  • Working knowledge of the Kenyan environmental legislation
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills
  • Excellent communication (English & Swahili)and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates a determined and independent approach to environmental performance delivery and displays resilience in the face of obstacles
  • Excellent planning, prioritizing and organizational skills
  • Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team and influence others in the delivery of good environmental performance
  • Flexible in approach and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to resolve and contribute to conflict resolution
