Our client, Umeme Ltd a well-established electricity distribution company with a purpose of providing exceptional customer services; with its main offices in Kampala, Uganda is looking for highly motivated and self-driven individuals to fill the following positions in their main offices:


Head of Human Resources

Reporting to the Managing Director, the main role of this position is to formulate, drive and operationalize the Human Resource strategy, and all associated policies, programmes and activities to ensure that the Human Resources Department contributes to the strategic direction and achievement of objectives of the company.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Formulates, maintains and co-ordinates strategies, policies and procedures on all matters relating to human resources management in the company and ensures that there is strict adherence and uniform implementation of the same.
  • Develop and maintain an HRIS that minimises transactional duties of HR, and the accuracy of data contained in the HR Information Systems.
  • Ensures Umeme structure and design of work are optimised and supported by business-relevant Job Descriptions, up to date with new JDs created as and when necessary.
  • Prepares HR budget and ensures the HR costs are managed within budget.
Qualifications, Experience and knowledge:
  • Be a holder of Bachelor’s degree in a business related field
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource
  • At least 5 years’ managerial experience in a large commercial organization
  • Membership of HR professional body in Uganda.
  • Strong leadership, motivation and managerial skills
  • Knowledge of the region’s Employment and Labour Laws
Head of Internal Audit

Reports to the Managing Director and the Audit Committee, the incumbent is responsible for exercising appropriate Corporate Governance principles, to integrate, lead, and measure operational performance against planned objectives, and ensuring remedial action is planned and executed, to ensure systems of internal control and risk management are developed to further the interests of shareowners and stakeholders

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Oversee the development of the annual Audit Plan and ensures the overall performance of audit procedures
  • Direct audit staff in the planning, organizing, directing and monitoring of Internal Audit operations
  • Coach the audit staff in conducting interviews, reviewing documents, developing and administering surveys, composing summary memos, and preparing working papers
  • Set in place short-term plans to elevate the Internal Audit function to provide best practice governance as relates to review, continual alignment, improvement, action planning for deviations, accountability and communication.
Qualifications, Experience and knowledge:
  • Degree in Accounting, Auditing or Finance from a reputable university
  • ACCA, CPA, CA, CIA, CISA
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a managerial position in an audit function
  • Extensive skill in planning and project management
  • Considerable knowledge of industry program policies, procedures, regulations and laws.
