National Health Coordinator


(to be based in Nairobi) Re- Advertisement

Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall health technical leadership and direction needed to support World Vision Kenya’s efforts in improving maternal, newborn child health and Malaria Status in all design, monitoring and evaluation processes, development and implementation of National Health sector strategy and operationalizing the same and in leading the effective implementation of health interventions.
  • Provide and mainstream quality assurance guidelines and processes for Health programming
  • Provide lead in capacity building for health to ensure understanding to support implementation done hand in hand with technical support.
  • Ensure engagement and network with Health partners including Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, Ministry of Medical Services and other health development agencies including UN agencies and WHO.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Health field from a recognized University. An advanced degree in public health is an added advantage
  • Strong maternal, newborn and child health knowledge and programming skills is highly desirable.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in child health programming at the district, provincial/ local authority and national levels with evidence of successful implementation of child survival programs in the framework of primary health care.
  • Must have both an extensive conceptual understanding of and demonstrated practical command for implementing program design, management and evaluation principals:
  • Results oriented leader who can manage and satisfy multiple organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands.
  • Experience in support supervision, training and coaching staff in health programming
  • Solid public relations skills and be a strong team player.
  • Strong engagement, relational and negotiating skills
Urban Programming Coordinator

(to be based in Nairobi) Re-Advertisement

Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic and programming guidance to WV Kenya’s urban programming.
  • Assess current WV Kenya urban and external programs in Kenya and identify areas for growth, partnership and development
  • Analyze urban trends, monitor inter-governmental groups, UN organizations and NGOs to maintain up-to-date knowledge of urban programming.
  • Network, build and broker partnerships in international donor circles and research institutions to support WV field work and keep abreast of political developments nationally and in the region
  • Ensure the continuous exchange of information on achievements and best practice including via an Urban Learning Network and Events
  • Develop field urban capacity by establishing and coordinating an Urban Site of Learning in Kenya in consultation with the regional office specialist and the Centre of Urban Expertise (Urban CoE).
  • Develop evidence based urban resource materials to enhance program quality and effectiveness in Kenya.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop new funding models suitable for urban contexts and support the National Office to target multi-lateral and grant funding sources
  • Provide strategic advice to Kenya to develop their urban strategy and adequate representation of the urban context in the current WVK Strategy.
  • Explore and adapt new organizational processes to respond to the urban environment
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following areas: urban studies, political, economic, social or philosophical sciences, preferably in combination with international relations. A master’s degree is preferable.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in urban programming and management issues, of which preferably at least three in INGOs.
  • Strong networking skills
  • Sound understanding of urban theories, practice and programming
Project Officer III - Peace Building 

(based at Lorroki)

Responsibilities:
  • Provide site specific grassroots project design, implementation and monitoring in the Peace Building activities of Samburu Pastoralist Livelihood Improvement Project (SAPLIP), guided by WV Kenya Policies.
  • Ensure smooth, cost effective, efficient and timely implementation of Peace Building project activities as per the implementation plan and allocated budget.
  • Collaborate with Central Rift Sub Branch (SB )Peace Building Program Officer and Project Manager to ensure operational and administrative support to project activities.
  • Ensure community participation and involvement in peace building activities for success of their development process for sustainability.
  • Facilitate community based Peace Building initiatives geared towards reducing conflicts in SAPLIP project area and in line with Kenya Government peace and security sector.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Peace-Building, Sociology, International Relations, Conflict studies or other related field and at least 2 years field experience working with Communities in Peace-Building programming and program management in an NGO context or A diploma in a related field with a minimum of 4 years field experience.
  • Experience in working with communities
  • Very strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of humanitarian industry including Sphere standards, NGO code of conduct and humanitarian charter, Local Capacities for Peace (LCP) and Do no harm (DNH).
Project Officer III - Agriculture Extension

(Based at Lorroki)

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, implement, monitor and document all the extension activities within the area of operation as per the proposal.
  • Provide necessary Environmental management related training, follow-up, support and guidance to the Pastoralist and farmers in the Farmer Field Schools, youth and women groups under SAPLIP.
  • In collaboration with the project manager, project staff, Kenya Forestry Services staff, Ministry of water and irrigation and other stakeholders on the ground, the incumbent will be in charge of all the environmental extension activities for SAPLIP project as per the detailed implementation plan.
  • Be in-charge of the all agriculture related activities in the SAPLIP implementation area;
  • Supervise and assist the selected pastoralist, farmers, youth and women groups in the recruitment, training and follow-up of contact farmers within their area of operation;
  • Coordinate all Agriculture extension activities within the SAPLIP area as may be required by the project manager or designee;
  • Participate in proposal development and resource mobilization.
Qualifications:
  • Degree certificate from a recognized University of Agriculture
  • At least two years’ experience as an Agricultural Extension staff.
  • Experience working with NGOs and Knowledge of the local language will be an added advantage
  • Has the ability and willingness to work with different communities.
Project Officer III - Environment Extension

(Based at Lorroki)

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, implement, monitor and document all the extension activities within the area of operation as per the proposal.
  • Provide necessary Environmental management related training, follow-up, support and guidance to the Pastoralist and farmers in the Farmer Field Schools, youth and women groups under SAPLIP.
  • In collaboration with the project manager, project staff, Kenya Forestry Services staff, Ministry of water and irrigation and other stakeholders on the ground will be in charge of all the environmental extension activities for SAPLIP project as per the detailed implementation plan
  • Coordinate all Environmental and natural resource activities within the SAPLIP area as may be required by the project manager or designee;
  • Design and implement sustainable biodiversity and natural resource management practices within the SAPLIP area of implementation.
Qualifications:
  • Degree certificate from a recognized College in Natural Resource Management or Agro-forestry
  • Two years’ experience as a Natural resource manager or Agro- Forestry staff.
  • Experience working with NGOs
  • Knowledge of the local language will be an added advantage.
Project Officer III - Livestock Extension

(Based at Lorroki / Ijara)

Responsibilities:
  • To plan, implement, monitor and document all the extension activities within the area of operation as per the proposal.
  • Provide necessary livestock related training, follow-up,
  • support and guidance to the Pastoralist and farmers in the Farmer Field Schools, youth and women groups under SAPLIP / Ijara
  • The job holder in collaboration with the project manager, project officers, project staff and MoLD staff will be required to implement all the livestock activities stipulated in SAPLIP project / Ijara proposal, DIP and budget.
  • Train the selected groups and community members on the various recommended Livestock practices for improved livestock breeds with a focus on animal husbandry, animal health, pasture establishment and breed improvement
  • Train and support selected pastoralist, farmers, youth and women groups on beekeeping, poultry farming, management of dualpurpose goats, improved poultry and improved bulls.
  • Supervise and assist the selected pastoralist, farmers, youth and women groups in the recruitment, training and follow-up of contact herdsmen within the SAPLIP operation;
  • Participate in proposal development and resource mobilization as may be necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Degree certificate from a recognized University of Veterinary Medicine or Livestock production
  • At least two year experience as a Livestock Extension staff.
  • Experience working with NGOs and knowledge of the local language will be an added advantage.
