Lake Victoria North Water Services Board was established under the Water Act 2002, and is responsible for the efficient and economical provision of water and sewerage within its area of jurisdiction.
 
The Board seeks to strengthen the management of one of its Water Service Provider by recruiting self driven and result oriented candidates to fill the following senior positions within the Kakamega, Khayega, Mumias, Butere, Nambale, Busia and Matayos Water Supplies. 

All the positions will be stationed in Kakamega.
 

1. Managing Director

1 Position
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide the strategic direction and leadership of the water supply in line with its vision, mission and values.
  • Oversee the effective and efficient management of the water supplies assets and facilities, including human capital, financial, administrative, and other resources.
  • Oversee the formulation and periodic updating of the Corporate Plan including projections of any expansion/development of facilities, business operations.
  • Champion change of culture within the water supplies to one more consistent with private sector principles and practices.
  • Review with senior management budget proposals and human resource plans for approval by the Board.
  • Prepare regular reports to the Board on actual performance of the water supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Promote effective and efficient service delivery through responsive strategies to customer needs.
Requirements for the Position:
  • Be a holder of a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Commerce or Business Administration/ Management from a recognized university.
  • Have at least 8 years relevant experience, three (3) of which must have been in senior management position.
  • Must be registered by respective professional bodies.
  • Must have strong leadership, people management, negotiations and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • A good understanding/knowledge and experience of the water sector will be an added advantage.
  • Those in possession of a Masters degree will have an added advantage.
2. Human Resource and Administration Manager

1 Position
 
Reporting to Managing Director, the candidate will provide expert advice in the management of the human
resource function.
 
Key duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement human resource strategies, policies, procedures and guidelines designed to achieve the Water Supplies strategic mission and goals.
  • Design and coordinate the implementation of staff career development programs to ensure continued supply of competencies and skills for effective operation of the water supplies.
  • Assess staff training needs and develop training and development programmes aimed at addressing the needs as well as building staff capacity to meet performance gaps.
  • Develop and effectively manage the staff grievance procedure so as to ensure a conducive working environment that is motivating to staff.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant labour legislation and HR policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Coordinate staff recruitment, staff induction, retention and separation processes.
  • Develop and manage staff welfare schemes such as medical, insurance, e.t.c.
  • Advise the Water Supplies on manpower planning and staffing levels by assessing the present and future needs of the company.
  • Prepare and manage staff costs.
  • Develop objective performance management systems and criteria for performance measurement.
  • Prepare timely reports and relevant communication to employees.
Requirements for the Position:
  • Be a holder of a degree in Social Sciences from a recognized university.
  • Must have a postgraduate Diploma in HRM.
  • Must have 5 years progressive human resource management experience in a busy organization.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Have excellent team, leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to make independent judgments which support business and HR objectives.
  • Sound knowledge and working experience of Kenyan Labour Laws.
  • Must be registered by Human Resource professional body.
  • Those in possession of a Masters degree will have an added advantage
