Kenya Film Commission (KFC) is a State Corporation established vide Legal Notice No. 10 of 2005. 

The Commission, whose vision is to be the reputed film partner of choice, is mandated to promote Kenya as a centre of excellence in film production. 

KFC works closely with film producers, government agencies, private organizations, professional bodies and associations in the film industry, other film commissions and other stakeholders in the film industry.

Legal Services Manager

Job Ref: KFC/LSM/2012

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the job holder will ensure delivery of the KFC's legal services framework, contract administration, compliance with legal, regulatory legislation and provides advice to management, staff and Board of Directors on legal issues affecting the Commission.

Job Profile:
  • Formulate and implement strategies on risk management, litigation, records and assets management.
  • Provide legal services to the Board of Directors of the Commission and Board Committees and other management Committees.
  • Ensure compliance by the Commission of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to its business.
  • Safeguard Commission’s interests and ensure that they are adequately defended before the Courts either through internal legal resource or use of appointed external Commission lawyers.
  • Provide advice to the management of the Commission on all legal, regulatory and contractual matters affecting the operations, business interest or assets of the Commission, including industrial matters.
  • Draft and review of contracts and agreements and Commission statutes and rules to ensure that they adequately protect the Commission’s interests.
  • Auditing the quality of court presentation from external advocates and providing liaison with external advocates and advisers.
  • To maintain highest level of confidentiality concerning the sensitive ,strategic and integral legal & other information, decisions and developments taking place at the commission.
  • Review and approval of Commission contracts and agreements and identifying opportunities for efficiencies and improvements.
  • Draw, peruse, complete and interpret legal documents on behalf of the Commission and its subsidiaries / affiliates.
  • Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Required Qualifications:
  • A Law degree from a recognized university
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law (KSL)
  • A Masters degree in Law will be an added advantage.
  • Must have a current advocate’s Practicing Certificate
  • Member of Law Society of Kenya
  • Self-motivation and ability to take initiative and work with minimum supervision.
  • Proficiency in computer packages
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • Key strategic and negotiation skills with a strong background of managing teams are essential.
  • Superior technical knowledge, at least seven (7) years experience in a similar position, preferably in the public sector.
Legal Officer I 

Job Ref:  KFC/LOI /2012

Reporting to the Senior Legal Officer the incumbent will participate in provision and facilitation of legal and support the commission secretarial services.

Job Profile
  • Maintenance of office records that are legal related
  • Assist in drafting proposal of new film laws and amendments of the existing ones for the promotion of the film industry
  • Nurture the section competencies and promoting a working environment that optimizes individual and team potential.
  • Draft and review of contracts and agreements and Commission statutes and rules to ensure that they adequately protect the Commission’s interests.
  • Keep track on new legislation and advise the Commission accordingly.
  • Assist in the developing legal agreements such as film funding agreements  between the Commission and its partners and stakeholders as may be directed by the Senior Legal Officer
  • Assist in the implementation of legal policies to ensure that the Commission complies with all applicable statutory requirements and related codes of regulations
  • Assisting in drafting of co-production treaties between Kenya and Film Commissions in other Countries
  • Any other duty as may be delegated by the Senior Legal Officer
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized University
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law (KSL)
  • Member of Law Society of Kenya
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • Proficiency in computer application packages
  • At least five (5) years experience in a legal field
Human Resources Officer I 

Job Ref: KFC/HROI/2012

Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Officer the incumbent will be responsible for HR information management and assisting in the implementation of HR programs

Job Profile:
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor staff capacity building/training initiatives for the Commission.
  • Manage and monitor the performance management system.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual performance management reports.
  • Ensure proper implementation of computer-based Human Resources Management Information Systems
  • Responsible for maintenance of staff data base and records, ensuring confidentiality of data therein.
  •  Responsible for implementation of HR work plans, and generation of quarterly report
  • Responsible for payroll administration with regard to the appropriate statutory and non-statutory deductions
  • Management of staff benefits scheme including medical, personal loan, car loan, etc.
  • Coordinates personnel issues such as leave schedules, and keeping records of the same; coordinate staff welfare activities
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the management from time to time
Required Qualifications:
  • Degree in business administration/social sciences/any relevant field
  • Higher Diploma in Human Resources, or related field
  • Experience in public sector performance contracting process
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to quickly understand complex problems and devise effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proactive and able to work under pressure.
  • At least three (3) years experience in a similar role.
Film Industry Development Officer I 

Job Ref: KFC/FIDOI /2012

Reporting to the Senior Film Industry Development Officer, the job holder will manage various film development programmes.

Job Profile:
  • Ensure development and maintenance of a database of local film makers, practitioners and all service providers in the film industry
  • Organizing and coordinating film industry events such as film launch and outdoor movies among others
  • Assist in management of the Commission’s Resource Centre with a selection of Kenyan produced films/videos
  • Gathering information on topical film issues
  • Identifying suitable locations for film shooting in order to advise the industry appropriately
  • Providing assistance to individual film makers to document their own collections
  • Identifying probable development partners.
  • Organizing special events on the work of the Kenyan filmmakers and disseminating information on films and filmmakers in Kenya
  • Keeping custody of both historical and current film data and disseminating the information to the industry practitioners and other interested parties.
  • Ensure documentation of KFC film industry development programs
  • Assisting the Senior Film Industry Development Officer in overseeing KFC film industry programs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Film production, Mass Communication , Journalism or a related social science
  • Post graduate qualifications in Project Management will be an added advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Report writing skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

Systems Support Officer I 

Job Ref: KFC/SSOI/2012

Reporting to the Senior ICT Officer the job holder will ensure provision of efficient computer information systems and services in order to improve work effectiveness and productivity

Job Profile
  • Ensure the effective functioning (installation, operation and maintenance) of all software packages in use (commercial, corporate or internally developed).
  • Maintain the Commissions web presence by posting new content in a timely manner and archiving outdated content
  • To provide technical support and advice to all users and solving technical problems.
  • Monitors the effectiveness and reliability of all hardware forming the computer network and accessories.
  • Set up computers on the network system, and trains all users in equipment use and basic maintenance, and network operations.
  • Conducts server operating system performance analysis, evaluates levels of systems operations and devises measures to improve overall performance.
  • Setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Required Qualification
  • Bachelor Information Technology/Computer Science/ Management information systems
  • MCITP certification an  added advantage
  • Experience in working with relational databases such as MySQL or SQL
  • Proficiency with content management systems such as Joomla or Drupal
  • Discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in Ms Office Suite

Front Office Officer III 

Job Ref:  KFC/FOIII /2012

Reporting to the Senior Administrative Officer, the job holder is responsible for managing the reception, attending to incoming visitors, handling outgoing/ incoming phone calls and providing administrative support as assigned by supervisor

Job Profile:
  • Effectively  manages/filters all incoming and outgoing telephone calls
  • Receives and directs visitors to the relevant offices within the Organization.
  • Receives and directs incoming and outgoing mails to the correct recipients
  • Ensures an efficient system of conveying information into, within and out of the Organization.
  • Assists in booking of facilities  (Board room, and other meeting rooms)
  • Offers secretarial support services such as bulk photocopying, filing, and typing
  • Coordinates transportation bookings, manages work tickets
  • Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Required Qualification
  • Diploma in front-office management from a recognized institution
  • Certificate in customer care skills
  • Good telephone etiquette and inter-cultural orientation.

  • 2 years work experience as a customer care executive in public sector environment is an added advantage.
Executive Secretary

Job Ref:  KFC/ES/2012

Reporting to the CEO the job holder will provide secretarial, clerical and administrative support to the CEO

Job Profile:
  • Responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the office of the CEO.
  • Administer secretarial and other support services in the office of the Chief Executive.
  • Coordinate information flow to and from the Chief Executive’s office
  • Draft letters, memoranda, reports and other documents for the review and signature of the Chief Executive.
  • Maintain action follow-up systems on issues and activities directed to various people by the Chief Executive.
  • Maintain and update the Chief Executive’s diary, scheduling meetings and providing all the necessary background information.
  • Maintain an up-to-date filing and information retrieval systems for the Chief Executive’s office.
  • Provide secretarial, logistical and administrative support during meetings such as preparation of agenda and taking and producing minutes.
  • Overall management of the CEO’S office
  • Provide Administrative support in the CEO’s office.
  • Perform any other relevant assignment as may be directed by the CEO from time to time.
Required Qualifications

Office Steward II 

Job Ref:  KFC/OSII /2012

Reporting to the administration officer III the job holder will ensure adequate and timely provision of support services to the members of staff and visitors

Job Profile
  • Ensuring that office newspapers are distributed to various offices
  • Assisting in delivering of office  parcel/letters to various destinations as required
  • Assist in the collection of parcels/letter from the post office or any other source
  • Help in photocopying office documents and distributing them as needed.
  • ensure general office cleanliness
  • Preparation and serving of refreshments to staff, office visitors, and meetings.
  • Makes requisition of consumables and cleaning equipments
  • Assists with office errands, and other office work as directed from time to time.
  • Performs any other tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
  • KCSE mean grade D as minimum academic qualification
  • Elementary training in catering will be an added advantage
  • High personal hygiene standards.
  • Diligent, self-motivated, honest and hard working
  • Minimum of two (2 years experience  in a similar position
Senior Driver

Reporting to the to the administration officer III the job holder will  facilitate timely, efficient and safe transportation of authorized persons and/or goods or parcels to designated places; and ensures organization’s vehicles are maintained in a clean and mechanically sound condition, within the legal requirements of the Government of Kenya

Job Profile:
  • Responsible for proper use of vehicles.
  • Performing all driving duties as per the assignment
  • Ensuring that the vehicle is properly maintained and that it is taken for routine checks.
  • Maintenance of work ticket  for all trips undertaken
  • Ensure security of the vehicle when on and off the road
  • Ensuring that the passengers and goods  on transit  are safe and secure
  • Ensuring vehicle cleanliness and its overall maintenance
  • Undertakes basic servicing of vehicles by routine checking of oil, brakes, etc; and ensuring preventative maintenance is undertaken.
  • Monitors breakdowns and report to designated officer for corrective action.
  • Ensures that the vehicle is used for official and approved purposes only.
  • Ensures that vehicles are parked in secure places when not in use
Required Qualifications
  • KCSE Certificate (minimum qualifications)
  • Valid driving license and certificate for Grade I
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Motor Vehicle Mechanical knowledge
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Over six (6) years driving experience
Driver II

Reporting to the to the administration officer III the job holder will  facilitate timely, efficient and safe transportation of authorized persons and/or goods or parcels to designated places; and ensures organization’s vehicles are maintained in a clean and mechanically sound condition, within the legal requirements of the Government of Kenya.
