Business Development Manager

Purpose of Role


To grow my clients portfolio & thereby generate profitable income
 
To grow my clients (Kenya) market share with objective of being no. one in the Country
 
To provide direction on client’s requirements and follow up to ensure quality is up-to expectation.
 

To spearhead innovations and fresh ideas that will deliver incremental business. 

Context
  • My client was established in April 2006 to play in the Below the Line Advertising industry.
  • My client targets to be the No 1 BTL agency in Eastern Africa.
  • Its key focus is exemplary customer service & quality execution.
  • My client is dedicated to offering value addition in all its activities.
  • My client promises to deliver all its activities/projects professionally but with deep regard to consumers & customers needs.
  • Given the above there is need for the company to engage dedicated resource in business growth and development.
Internal Profile 

Reporting to the General Manager,
 
He will have strong relationships with: -
  • Head of Business Dev & Innovation
  • My clients Entertainment, Projects and Operations Leaders
  • Office Administrator
Managing and leading the client service executive

External Profile
 
 
Excellent relationships with
  • High levels of respect/contact with clients.
  • Service Providers/Suppliers
  • Peers in FMCG industry, external industry data sources
Key Financial Data
  • Responsible for the effective costing of projects
  • Effective use of tools of trade
Environment: 70% Office 30% field

Key Accountabilities

A. Business Generation
 
To achieve the set business targets (i.e. Financial and Category) through:-
  • Proactively sourcing for clients new businesses.
  • Proposals to clients based on either clients need or own initiative.
  • The proposals in line with company standards and policy.
  • Understanding clients entire marketing mix and route to market
To constantly analyze business performance versus targets and seek to bridge variance

B. Client Servicing
  • Will provide timely feedback and update information
  • Will have regular meetings with clients to propose new ideas or for building relationships.
  • To plan on how to ensure My clients is top of mind in clients’ mind
C. Quality Control
  • Qualify and sign off the execution plan (Project Charter) as per clients need with regard to practicability.
  • Carry out regular field visits to review progress.
  • Review performance versus objectives
  • Audit execution
D. Growing market share

You will achieve this through
  • Innovation:- Will seek to inject new ideas and concepts as well as new ways of doing things for both  the clients and the business
  • Brand Building: - To consistently build the brand My clients and seek to grow its image
  • Differentiation:- Seek to clearly differentiate my client from the competition
E. Finance and Planning
  • To cost all projects profitably.
  • Participate in business planning and target setting.
Qualifications: Min of 1st degree 

Experience: +5 years in a business development environment.
