vacant positions:
Chief Television (TV)
Programmer/Director
Scale KIE 11 (1 Post)
a) Duties and responsibilities
- Formulating
the station goals, policies and procedures;
- Coordinating
programming of the education channel broadcast schedules;
- Previewing
and evaluating local and international educational television programmes
to determine relevance and quality for transmission;
- Sourcing
for suitable Educational programmes for broadcast.
- Responding
to viewers' questions, comments and/or complaints regarding television
programming/scheduling;
- Preparing
annual workplan and budget;
- Conducting
monitoring and evaluation of the educational channel programmes and
prepare reports;
- Liaising
with the Production manager on programmes content and schedules;
- Ensuring
compliance with national and international regulations and guidelines in
broadcasting;
- Initiating
programme sponsorship; and
- Inducting,
training and supervising staff.
b) Requirements
for appointment
For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
- Bachelor's
degree in any of the following disciplines:- Communications, Media
Studies, Broadcast Journalism, Information Sciences or related field and
at least three (3) years experience in programme evaluation, acquisition
and scheduling of television programmes in a reputable broadcasting house
at a supervisory level;
- TV
Production training;
- Knowledge
of Kenyan Curricular or Educational Television;
- Conversant
with broadcast regulations, rules and guidelines as well as technical and
production standards;
- Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills; and
- Ability
to adhere to strict deadlines.

- Proficiency
in computer use and application.

a) Duties and Responsibilities
- Formulating

production work for the Educational television channel;

- Liaising
with the Programming manager on programs content and schedules;
- Planning
and supervising television production activities and personnel;
- Liaising
with producers, directors and technical teams on television productions;
- Initiating
program production partnerships and sponsorship;
- Ensuring
compliance with national and international regulations and guidelines in
broadcasting;
- Conducting
monitoring and evaluation of the educational channel productions and
preparing reports; and
- Inducting
and training staff.
b) Requirements
for appointment
For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
- Bachelor's
degree in any of the following disciplines:- Communications, Media
Studies, Education, Broadcast Journalism, or related field and at least
three (3) years experience in TV production in a reputable broadcasting
house at a supervisory level;
- Knowledge
of the Kenyan curricular or Educational Television;
- Knowledge
in educational news gathering, reporting and presentation;
- Advanced
analytical skills;
- Excellent
verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability
to adhere to Strict deadlines; and
- Knowledge
in broadcast regulations, rules and guidelines as well as technical and
production standards.

Principal Information
Communication Technology Officer
Scale 12 Ones (1) Post
The Principal information Technology Officer will be responsible to the Deputy Director, Electronic and Emerging Media.
a) Duties and Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate
design, implement and control of ICT systems, formulate and enforce
technical and operating standards for efficient and effective utilization
of ICT systems;
- Develop
and implement ICT strategies and policies;
- Carry
out feasibility studies;
- Train
and prepare staff performance reports;
- Plan,
monitor and evaluate program/activities within an Information
Communication Technology Unit;
- Liaise
with user departments to ensure effective maintenance and upgrading of
Information Communication Technology equipment, systems and web
information;
- Design
and manage the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN);
- Initiate
and continuously advise on investments in scalable software and hardware
systems to support growth;
- Ensure
enhancement of new technology as per the trends which are cost effective
and value adding to the Institute; and
- Develop
manuals on ICT standards and hardware/software specifications.
b) Requirements
for Appointment
- Bachelor
of Science degree in either Computer Science, Information or Communication
Technology and five (5) years relevant experience.
- Demonstrate
wide experience, competence and ability in computerized information
systems;
- Knowledge
of integrated management software systems including website management and
learning Management Systems;
- Knowledge
and experience in data recovery Systems;
- Knowledge
and experience in eCommerce; and
- Initiate
and continuously advise on investments in scalable software and hardware
systems to support growth.
Assistant Director, TV
Producer/Director
KIE Scale 12 (1 Post)
The Assistant Director, TV Producer/Director will be responsible to the Deputy Director Electronic and Emerging Media for production and directing of television programmes.
a) Duties and Responsibilities
- Formulate
the station goals, policies and procedures;
- Coordinate
production work for the Educational television channel;
- Prepare
annual work plan and budget;
- Plan
and supervise television production activities and personnel;
- Initiate
programme production partnerships and sponsorship;
- Ensure
compliance with national and international regulations and guidelines in
broadcasting; and
- Induct,
train and supervise staff.
b) Requirements
for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an applicant must have:
- Either
Masters degree in Communications/Media studies/ Education, Broadcast
journalism, or related field from a recognized institution and three (3 )
years experience in TV production/directing OR Bachelors Degree in
Communication/Media Studies/Broadcast Journalism or related field and five
(5) years extensive experiences in TV production/directing in a reputable
broadcasting house at a supervisory level;
- Knowledge
of the Kenyan curricular or Educational Television;
- Excellent
verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability
to adhere to strict deadlines;
- Knowledge
of broadcast regulations, rules and guidelines as well as technical and
production standards;
- Initiative,
be a team player and self motivated; and
- Proficiency
in computer use and applications.
