Plan International (in Kenya) is seeking to recruit for the position of Program Coordinator Learning based at Kwale Program Unit. This job reports to the Program Unit Manager. 

The job holder will be responsible for designing, management and implementation of PU programs. 

The job holder will provide the overall support in implementation of the Child Centered Community Development (CCCD) projects in line with PULTP strategies and ensures sensitization of the community about Plan’s new strategy by facilitating appropriate networks.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure well managed budget
  • Ensure well managed corporate systems e.g. PPM
  • Ensure sufficient resources/grants raised in line with Program Unit Long Term Plans (PULTPs)
  • Ensure effectively managed grants
  • Produce quality, accurate and timely program documents
  • Ensure well managed Program Outlines (POs)
  • Produce timely and accurate grant-related reports
  • Conduct interim and annual team performance evaluations
  • Ensure well managed and high performing team
  • Plan’s active participation in sector specific forums to engage with partners and other stakeholders for effective program implementation
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences
  • 3 years hands on experience in similar position in an NGO set-up

Sponsorship Coordinator

Plan International (in Kenya) is recruiting the position of Sponsorship Coordinator Based in Bondo PU. 

The post holder ensures coordination of production and processing of communications, meets the corporate requirements of Plan International at PU level for sustained Sponsorship activities and continuous resource mobilization for the Country’s Strategic Plan (CSP). 

The position reports to the Program Unit Manager with direct supervision of Community Development Facilitators (CDFs) and Data Entry Clerks (DECs). 

S/he will oversee the quality production of sponsorship work and closely work with communities, CBOs and volunteers to ensure achievement of Plan’s sponsorship objectives for programme funding.
 
Key responsibilities
  • Work in close collaboration and coordination with the PU Management Team to ensure the sponsorship team is well managed and highly performing
  • Through sustained quality communications from Communities to the sponsors, ensure that the PU Long-term Plans has a sustainable funding base for its programs
  • Supervision and coaching of the CDFs and DECs to ensure compliance with corporate systems, policies and procedures as per the Sponsorship Book.
  • Provide visionary leadership, coaching for results and support to CDFs and DECs in the achievement of their targets as well as in their individual development and performance.
  • Build and oversee Plan accountability to the CBOs with particular attention to sponsorship quality and timely production of documents and the effective participation of children in Sponsorship and other Plan processes.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the community managed sponsorship model to comply with Plan international, Child centred community development approach.
  • Coordinate sponsor visits at the PU to ensure National office and Child protection interests are fully observed.
  • Undertake performance management for the CDFs and DECs to ensure Sponsorship targets at PU level are met.
  • Ensure existence of controls for proper risk management in sponsorship
Communications and Working Relationships
 
Effective working relationships within Plan are essential, including with National Offices (regarding NO/PU enquiries) the Country Office, CBOs and with Program Unit Management Team and direct reports in the PU.
 
To maximize overall impact through the contributions of others, the post holder will be required to initiate, develop and maintain a range of working relationships, including with government counterparts, CBOs, volunteers, and other Sponsorship oriented organizations in the Plan operation area.
 
Educational Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences
  • Diploma in Community Development
  • 3- 5 years’ experience in sponsorship and community development preferably in an NGO
  • Experience in Community Development
  • Ability to mentor , coach and manage team performance
  • Effective communication and Facilitation skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge in use of basic computer applications is mandatory.
  • Fluent in written & oral English and Kiswahili

This position reports to the Strategic Program Support Manager. Plan believes that gender equality is central to achieving our vision for change, a world in which all children, both girls and boys, realize their full potential and societies that respect people’s rights and dignity. Achieving Gender equality is therefore a core objective of Plan’s work as an organization dedicated to child rights. 

The purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership and technical support in the integration and mainstreaming gender in all the programs as well as in the organizational practices.
 
Dimensions of Role
  • Promotes gender equality as outlined in the Plan’s policy on Gender Equality: Building an equal world for all children;
  • Builds greater gender awareness and enhanced commitment by management to equip Plan staff (Country and Program Unit levels) with skills and knowledge to facilitate gender –sensitive and rights based program development and practice;
  • Facilitate Gender Capacity Building Programs (as part of the Global Gender Equality Capacity Building Program) for Plan staff and partners so as to ensure equality for girls and boys is realized through Plan’s programs:

  • Support staff to the design and localize gender analysis tools for effective engagement with children and communities;
  • Follow-up monitor or asses programs from a gender perspective and see how they are impacting girls and boys and women and men;
  • Develop a small annual budget to support gender activities of national significance and internal organizational learning;
  • Support in the implementation Plan global gender policy and mainstreaming of gender in all country programs at national and Program Unit Level;

Knowledge
  • A degree in Law or Gender Studies and/or Social Sciences from a reputable institution;

Plan International in Kenya is seeking to recruit for the position of Community Development Facilitator based at Kwale Program Unit. 

The job holder reports to the Sponsorship Coordinator. 

She/he will be responsible for mobilizing community for participation in sponsorship production to ensure continuous building of relations between community members, sponsored families and sponsors.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce quality and timely sponsorship products (e.g. SCI/SCUs, quality photographs)
  • Provide timely feedback on NOIs
  • Ensure active participation of children, families and CBOs in sponsorship.
  • Ensure good relations and linkages between Plan and volunteers and Communities.
  • Support implementation of Plan Community Managed Sponsorship model in the communities.
  • Ensure safety of sponsorship working tools (e.g. bicycles, cameras)
