Head, Business Advisory Services


UNES/BAS/HBAS/10/12  (One Position)

Job Summary

The Head Business Advisory Services reports to the Deputy Managing Director (DMD). 

The officer directly supports the office of the DMD with the functions of Business Planning, Strategy Development and Implementation to the Company and it’s Business Units. 

Job Description
  • Coordination of Implementation and Monitoring of the Corporate Strategic Plan
  • Support Business Planning to all units
  • Cost Accounting and Pricing for all Business Units and  support the Food & Beverage cost controller
  • Compliance and Business excellence for all units
  • Provision of marketing support services to all units
  • Coordination of all Performance Contracting activities
  • Coordination of QMS activities (Corporate and Business units) and Academic Revenue analysis and compliance testing
  • Provision of secretariat services to Board Investment Committee meetings
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the DMD from time to time
Job Specification
  • A Masters Degree in Business Administration (Finance) or its equivalent
  • CPA(K) or equivalent with five (5) years relevant experience
  • Strong Data Analysis capability using both MS Excel and other Database Statistical Software
  • ISO Certified Auditor
  • Strong Communication and organizational Skills
  • Capable of working independently
Manager Bookstore    

UNES/B/M/10/12  (One Position)

Reports to Managing Director

 Job Description:
  • In-charge of all operations of the book store
  • Performing marketing functions
  • Developing new relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Initiating new product lines
  • Responsible for staff functions and welfare
  • Appraisal of management staff and other subordinate staff in the section
  • In- charge of pricing policy in the bookstor
Job Specification:
  • At least a degree in Business Administration, Marketing or closely related field
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • At least 5 years experience in a management position of a busy bookstore
  • Able to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent computer skills
Assistant Manager  

UNES/B/AM/10-12  

(2 posts: Nairobi and Kisumu - indicate your preferred location)

Reports to the Manager Bookstore

Job Description:
  • In-charge of all shop floor operations
  • Coordinating all activities of the shop floor including cleanliness of the bookstore and materials for sale
  • In- charge of customer care operations
  • In-charge of marketing activities
  • Carrying out market survey and vendor rating
  • Creation of daily cash and credit sales reports
  • Work closely with the Accountant and Bookstore Manager
Job Specification:
  • Bachelor of Commerce (marketing) option
  • At least five years experience in a large bookstore or retail shop
  • Ability to work long hours with minimum supervision
  • Good inter-personal and communication skills
  • Computer literate
