Sports Writer

Job Ref: HR-SW-10-12

We are seeking for qualified and experienced Sports Writer who will add value to the operations of the Group.

Key responsibilities
  • Develops, reports and writes sports news as assigned by the Sports Editor in line with the editorial policy guidelines and objectives, the house style and the journalistic code of ethical journalism;
  • Researches and provides background sports information, briefs the Sports Editor on sports news gathered and writes the selected ones within set deadlines;
  • Follows sports news leads and maintains close contacts with news sources;
  • Liaises with photographers and Photo Editor so as to produce the stories;
  • Responds promptly to sports news breaks and escalates to the sports Editor.
Knowledge and skills requirements:
  • University degree and training in Journalism;
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years working experience preferably as a Reporter/Writer;
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and cope with pressure and deadlines.
Freelance Journalists

Job Ref: HR-FJ-10-12

The successful candidates will be required to write quality news stories and features for all NMG publications as well as write TV and Radio scripts and /or shoot pictures. The freelance journalist will be based at: Malindi, Kisii, Isiolo, Wajir, Samburu, Garisa and Turkana.

Knowledge, skills and experience requirements:
  • University degree and training in journalism;
  • Minimum two years work experience;
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and cope with pressure and deadlines.

Workshop Supervisor

We are seeking to recruit an experienced and self- motivated individual in the capacity of Workshop Supervisor for Nation Carriers Department.

The overall role of the incumbent is to oversee planned maintenance and vehicle repairs, inspections and licensing in order to ensure that Nation Carriers and the Group’s business objectives are realized and to oversee the implementation of the Service Level Agreement (SLA) by the supplier. 

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the Workshop Supervisor will carry out the following key responsibilities:

Key responsibilities
  • Assist the Fleet Manager in implementation of vehicle maintenance plans at the supplier’s premises;
  • Inspect vehicle preventive maintenance and repairs at the supplier’s workshop;
  • Raise vehicle service and repair Interim Orders as per the maintenance contract, for approval by the Fleet Manager;
  • Carry out vehicle licensing as necessary to comply with the Traffic Act;
  • Ensure controls and cost management;
  • Arrange for annual vehicle inspections as necessary at the government inspection centre.
Qualifications, experience and skills
  • Diploma in Automotive Engineering;
  • At least three years’ experience and O-level education;
  • Strong coordination skills;
  • Self -motivated and able to work with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work within time limits and with ‘out of the box’ mentality when required, due to time constraints to make sure work is done by deadline.
  • Be motivated at all times and to motivate the rest of the crew as well.
  • Assertiveness where quality and cleanliness is at stake
  • Computer skills
