National Cohesion and Integration Commission

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission was established to facilitate and promote equality of
opportunity, good relations, harmony and peaceful co-existence between persons of different ethnic and racial communities of Kenya and to advise the Government on all aspects thereof.

The Commission intends to recruit highly professional self driven individuals to fill the following vacant positions:

1. Assistant Director 
Civic Education and Advocacy – NCIC 3

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In charge of Civic Education and Advocacy Department
  • Preparation of work schedules, plans and budgets
  • Coordination of dissemination of NCIC issues to the Public
  • Development of Civic Education and advocacy materials
  • Develop a dissemination strategy for Civic Education and advocacy materials
Requirements for Appointment:
  • Have served for a period of eight (8) years in advocacy or development work in Civil Society Organisation’s, International Development Agencies or Community based Organisations.
  • Have a Masters Degree in Social Sciences
  • Possess skills in developing work plans, proposal writing and project reporting.
  • Exposure to working with donors, civil society and development actors.
2. Assistant Director 
Reconciliation and Integration – NCIC 3

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop work plans and coordinate the implementation of reconciliation and integration activities.
  • Responsible for peace-building, conflict management and inter community dialogue activities.
  • Spearhead the development of peace-building and conflict management advocacy materials in liaison with the Communications and Media Relations Office.
Requirements for Appointment:
  • Have served for at least eight (8) years in the field of Peace-building, or advocacy three (3) of which should be at a senior supervisory level.
  • Have a Masters degree in Conflict Management or any other related field.
3. Senior Supply Chain Management Officer – NCIC 4

Duties and Responsibilities
  • In charge of the supply chain management function in the Commission.
  • Interpreting existing supplies policies, regulations and procedures
  • Preparation and Processing of Tender documents.
  • Procurement, Inventory and stock control in accordance with the laid down government regulations and procedures.
Requirements for Appointment:
  • Have a Bachelors degree in Supplies and Purchasing or a Bachelors Degree in Commerce with a Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies.
  • Served for over five (5) years in a procurement function in a public institution at a comparable level.
4. Senior Civic Education And Advocacy Officer – NCIC 4

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Development of programmes and work plans for Civic Education
  • Holding public forums aimed at creating public awareness on ethnicity
  • Assisting in the development and updating of NCIC Civic education and advocacy materials.
Requirements for Appointment:
  • Not less than five (5) years experience as a programme officer in development work or advocacy.
  • Have a bachelors degree in Social Sciences
  • Computer literate
5. Senior Communications And Media Relations Officer Grade: NCIC 4

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Managing, maintaining and updating of the NCIC website and intranet.
  • Conceptualizing, designing and implementing internal and external communication strategies and media based advocacy strategies, that advance NCIC’s strategies and objectives.
  • Acting as a media liaison and coordinating media monitoring
  • Writing opinion pieces, writing and reviewing press statements
  • Ensuring appropriate use of the NCIC logo and compliance with NCIC Communications policy, and strategy
Requirements for Appointment:
  • A Bachelor of Arts Degree in any of the Social Sciences and a Diploma in Mass Communication / Journalism from a recognized institution, or a Degree in Journalism / Mass Communication, Masters degree will be an added advantage.
  • Served satisfactorily in the area of Corporate Communications, Media, Public Relations or any other relevant field for at least five (5) years two of which should have been at a senior level.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
  • Experienced in (IEC) materials development.
  • Proficient in computer applications including desktop publishing.
6. Project Coordinator

Duration: 12 months Contract

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist technical staff to develop systematic and realistic monitoring plans that capture quantitative and qualitative data to report on project performance indicators.
  • Coordinate the implementation of baseline surveys, follow-on monitoring and evaluation exercises for various activities within the grant.
  • Develop program and operational reporting templates that facilitate the acquisition and aggregation of information in Departments
  • Coordinate Project Implementation.
  • Prepare budgets and work plan.
  • Preparation of timely reports on Project Implementation.
Requirements for Appointment:
  • Masters degree in project management, economics or a related field.
  • Three (3) years experience in managing projects
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Good knowledge of Programme cycle Management and Development
  • Communication and analytical skills
  • Computer skills especially statistical analysis using SPSS, Ms Access, STATA, Excel, among others
7. Accounts Assistant
 
Duration: 12 months Contract

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Receive and process all invoices for payment for the DFID Grant.
  • Ensure that all posting related to accounts are done as promptly as possible.
  • Maintain the general ledger and control accounts balancing
  • Preparation of monthly trial balance and quarterly financial statements
  • Prepare activity budgets with the guidance of the Project Coordinator
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Project Coordinator.
Requirements for Appointment:
  • Have a Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option) and Professional Accounting qualification with at least CPA II
  • Minimum working experience of three years in a busy accounting environment
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting procedures including planning
  • Extensive knowledge of financial and procurement regulations of the Government of Kenya.
  • Knowledge and understanding of donor reporting requirements.
  • Computer literacy
