A Study
project on adherence to antiretroviral medication based in Kenyatta National
Hospital wishes to recruit for the positions outlined below.
Field Outreach Worker (Nairobi)
Applicants
should have a KCSE mean score of at least D+, and hold a Certificate in
Counselling.
Additional
required qualifications include certification in Good Clinical Practice and
Research with Human Subjects.
The
outreach worker must be a fluent speaker of Kiswahili and English, common
languages among our research participants.
Driver (Nairobi)
Applicants
should be holders of a Kenyan Class “E” vehicle driver’s license, and must be
fluent in Kiswahili and English. Previous experience in a health research
setting will be an added advantage.
Successful
applicants will be expected to have attention to detail and excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.
Research Project Physician (Nairobi)
Applicants
must have a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBChB or equivalent) from a
recognized institution, and be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners
and Dentists Board.
They
must also have training and certification in Human Subjects Protection and Good
Clinical Practice.
A
career interest in HIV/STI research and training is strongly preferred.
The
successful applicant will be responsible for clinical care of patients,
supervision of clinic staff, collection and analysis of data, presentation of
results at conferences, and writing of research papers.
S/he
must be able to work with minimal supervision and be ready to work long hours
when necessary.
Clinical Research Nurse (Nairobi)
Applicants
must have a Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing Diploma from a College
recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
They
must also have training and certification in Human Subjects Protection and Good
Clinical Practice. In addition, they must have at least 2 years of work
experience in nursing.
Those
with a certificate of training in Clinical Management of HIV will have added
advantage. Research experience counselling and collecting clinical specimens is
strongly preferred.
Successful
applicants will be expected to have excellent interpersonal and communication
skills, and will be required to work in a busy research project.
Data Entry Clerk (Nairobi)
Applicants
should be holders of a KCSE of at least C+ and computer literate.
Preference
will be given to those with work experience in data entry, data cleaning and
quality assurance procedures.
Working
knowledge of SPSS or related software is strongly preferred.
Previous
experience in a research setting will be an added advantage.
Successful
applicants will be expected to have attention to detail, excellent
interpersonal and communication skills, and will be required to handle a large
volume of data entry and cleaning.
Laboratory Technician (Nairobi)
Applicants
must be holders of an Ordinary or Higher National Diploma in medical laboratory
science plus have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a busy laboratory
working with human specimens.
Preference
will be given to candidates with skills in medical microbiology, STI and HIV
diagnosis and monitoring.
Candidates
must be registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and
Technologist Board (KMLTTB).
The
successful candidate will be required to work long hours, including working
outside of normal working hours.
