We are seeking to recruit results-oriented and proactive team players to fill different positions in one of the leading Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Contractor in East & Central Africa.


Head of Engineering Department & Quality Assurance Manager


2 Positions

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for overall Engineering Department, quality improvements and ensure that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and contracting specifications. 
  • Undertake regular meetings with Project Managers/Team Leaders and clients on project progress and quality of deliverables;
  • Conduct research and identify resources for early intelligence project opportunities;
  • He will establish performance standards, procedures, and audit controls in order to meet business requirements, as well as identifying and implementing process improvements to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of engineering operations.
  • Inspecting teams including individual team members on general appearances, performances and conduct while at the normal course of duty and at work places.
  • Overall supervisor of all Team Leaders, co-ordinating all teams, offering guidance and overall checking of all work documents from the teams while spending enough time with teams to ensure proper work coordination is in progress.
  • Checking on incidents of in-discipline activities and poor work performances and ensuring that they are reported.
  • Checking vehicle log sheets to verify kilometres travelled and time taken to ensure efficient operation.
  • Preparing weekly data reports on the overall performances of (complaints in general) and providing recommendations for future improvements.
  • All the above will be done to ensure increased customer satisfaction business  development and enhanced client relationship.
Technical Skills

Quality management: 
Complete in-depth grasp of best practices in quality operations which include quality control and assurance activities, policies, standards, legislations and regulatory practices and articulate them throughout the company.

Organization and coordination skills: Ability to coordinate multiple activities, cutting across departments, sections and across the supply chain and all stakeholders to achieve 100% quality conformance.

Mobilization skills: Ability to identify and mobilize resources for successful quality/quality assurance operations for the company.

Strategic skills: Able to communicate and influence strategy; develop and communicate quality plans/programs in line with company strategy

Research skills: Understands research processes including methodology and tools used in quality operations

Project Management skills: Demonstrated skills that include strategic planning, cost management and execution, as well as the ability to multi-task among multiple projects against varied audiences. Possesses tactical skills to implement projects, ability to identify and act on opportunities

Analytical skills:  Analytical in approach with the ability to collate and analyze data from various sources and present the same in a structured manner

Communication skills: Ability to communicate quality related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to interface directly with cross-functional teams, vendors, customers, and internal departments.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering {Power Option} from a recognized institution;
  • 7 Minimum Years of broad experience in Electrical Engineering with ATLEAST 3 Years in Supervisory Position in a Electrical/Mechanical Class A Contractor with an Annual Turnover of more than 80 Million.
  • Experience in Power Distribution and Controls.
  • Sound knowledge of BTS, MGW and MSR Sites and strong knowledge of preparing Bill of Quantities and Tendering.
  • A Driving Experience of at least 4 Years Experience.

  • Good communication, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Proactive, confident, energetic and ability to work under pressure;
  • Age bracket of 30 - 35 years
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills coupled with exceptional planning and organisation skills.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure implementation of induction programme and training schedules for new team leaders & supervisor at locations.
  • Handing of any relevant HR issues of Operations Team and Managers.
  • Liaising with a wide range of people involved in policy areas such as staff performance, and health and safety;
  • Recruiting staff - this includes developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing advertisements, checking application forms, short listing, interviewing and selecting candidates;
  • Developing and implementing policies on issues such as working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management;
  • Advising on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits;
  • Undertaking regular salary reviews and maintaining employee records;
  • Interpreting and advising on employment legislation;
  • Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures;
  • Developing HR planning strategies with managers, which consider immediate and long-term staff requirements in terms of numbers and skill levels;
  • Planning, and sometimes delivering, training, including inductions for new staff and analyzing training needs in conjunction with departmental managers
Qualifications
  • Degree  in Human Resources Management / Management or Administration from a recognized university;
  • Post-Graduate qualifications in Human Resources Management
  • 2 Minimum Years of broad experience in Human Resources including  experience in Electrical/Mechanical Class A Contractor;
  • Ability to manipulate data to generate reports weekly, monthly, quarterly & annually;
  • Good communication, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Proactive, confident, energetic and ability to work under pressure;
  • A team player with a pleasant outgoing personality with empathy and resilience.
  • Membership of a recognised human resource professional body is an added advantage;
  • Broad knowledge of labour laws, compensation, benefits administration, organisational planning and development, employee relations, performance management, staff training and development;
  • Experience in coaching, counselling and mentoring staff; and
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills coupled with exceptional planning and organisation skills.
