Grants Compliance Manager Job in Kenya

Maries Stopes Kenya is seeking to fill the following position:

The Role:  
Grants Compliance Manager
Reports To: Director, Financial Management
Liaises With:  Project Managers
Duty Station: Support Office, Nairobi

Purpose of the role

Ensure that all the project activities are carried out as per the terms and conditions set out in the contract.

Key responsibilities
  • Monitor and ensure there is a consistent understanding and implementation of donor regulations and requirements of awards.
  • Serve as principle point of important documents for all the projects, such as the contracts, reports submitted to the donor, communication with the donor.
  • Facilitate and supervise the production of monthly project financial reports for monitoring of expenditure against the budgets.
  • Involvement in proposal budget development, ensuring that sufficient costs are included in line with donor guidelines.
  • Analysis of project transactions with project managers to ensure that these are aligned to budgets and identify actions required for potential over and under expenditure.
  • Review of transactions to ensure these are incurred in line with the terms of the agreements.
Key Performance Areas 

Ensure compliance of grant agreements

Reporting :   
Monitoring of costs against approved budgets.
Ensure reports are submitted as per the agreements.

Budgeting : 
Ensure budgets for proposals include all relevant costs

Custodian of all key documents

Job Requirements
  • University degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA (K) or equivalent
  • Four years’ grant management experience in an INGO
Key skills and qualities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of management information systems, spreadsheets application and budgeting.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Analytical
  • Attention to detail.
  • A good grasp of donor financial reporting requirements
