Executive Secretary Job in Kenya


The Kenya Episcopal Conference is the Assembly of the Catholic Bishops in Kenya.

The KEC - Catholic Secretariat is the National Administrative, facilitative and Coordinative arm through which the Kenya Episcopal Conference implements and co-ordinates various programs at the National level and undertakes all those responsibilities which express the mission of the Catholic Church in Kenya.

KEC is seeking an outstanding, dynamic and results oriented individuals to fill the following key position of  National Executive Secretary – (Catholic Health Commission of Kenya )

A Commission is a body constituted by the Bishops Conference for a specific mission of the Church to study, recommend and implement its findings in accordance with its mandate.   


The Catholic Health Commission of Kenya-KEC was established in 1957 as the Medical Department of the KEC-Catholic Secretariat to Coordinate Mission Hospitals and to help KEC fulfil its mission in the provision of Health Services.  

It provides oversight, advocacy, lobbying and representation for an expansive network of Catholic Health facilities.

1. Title of the Post

National Executive Secretary  

(Technical  Head of the Commission)

2. Purpose of the Post

To provide technical, management and leadership support to the Commission so as to ensure high level performance in conceptualizing, formulating and implementing appropriate initiatives for National –level Health  interventions and enhance  the capacity of dioceses , Catholic Hospitals and dispensaries .

Contract.

4. Reporting Line

To  Secretary General  and the Episcopal Commission

5. Duties
  • Spearhead the development and review of key strategies and plans related to the Commission
  • Manage and lead the technical implementation of the Commission’s strategy and plans ensuring that services adhere to the overall strategy and mandate of the KEC
  • Spearhead the conceptualization, formulation and implementation of National –Level advocacy and Health related initiatives.
  • Foster and strengthen national –level networking s of various Catholic Services
  • Develop initiatives for KEC ‘s policy Advocacy and influence on National trends on pressing issues touching on health Policies
  • Develop proposals for fundraising to support Catholic Health Commission of Kenya – KEC
  • To provide leadership  to the Commission  as a member of Senior management Team
  • Prepare progress reports to KEC, Donor and other stakeholders
6. Qualifications
  • A Masters Degree  in relevant field ( Medicine , Public Health or related fields   )
  • Minimum 6 years experience management and implementation of health related programs  Kenya
  • Demonstrate leadership and management abilities in working with other technical advisors and experts health issues
  • Self driven and strategic thinker able to  work without supervision and proactive in designing Catholic health  promoting programmes
  • Should have excellent Communication skills
  • Must demonstrate high level of initiative , honesty, dynamic strategic thinking
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • A person of attested integrity
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Strong Oral and written communication skills required.
7. Performance Indicators

Extent of carrying out duties and responsibility in #5 above.

8. Personal Traits


Must be a committed and Practicing Catholic, with good recommendation from own Bishop or Parish priest
