Accounting Manager

CARE Somalia is an International NGO working in Somalia. CARE and its partners work with vulnerable communities to address the underlying causes of poverty and promote peace and development, through its strategic goal to reduce poverty by empowering women, enhancing access to resources and services, and improving governance.
The position will be based in our Nairobi Office with some travel to Somalia.
As a manager you will be a valuable resource required to provide analysis on financial information, be responsible for the overall data integration, Chart of Accounting Compliance, and Completeness of supporting documentation.
You will ensure the development and implementation of accounting
policy and procedures for both CARE and it’s Stakeholders; The Position will be
required to co-ordinate financial month close activities as per CARE’s
reporting calendar.
The post holder will supervise the accounting functions to ensure will also be required to also provide support to all Regional Management Unit.
Person Specification
- University
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- Over
five (5) years humanitarian aid experience in accounting. Financial
management and compliance regulatory environment.
- Demonstrable
experience with requirements of key humanitarian donors and capacity to
work in a multidonor environment, including DFID, ECHO, USAID, and UN
Agencies.
- Demonstrable
experience with requirements of key statutory requirements
- Have
thorough knowledge of GAAP.
- Should
be detailed oriented and possess strong analytical skills.
- Should
have proficiency in use of computers, MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS
Power point) and financial software knowledge in PeopleSoft will be an
added advantage.
- Active
team player and possess strong management skills
- Ability
to work under stress to meet tied deadlines internally and externally
