Vacancies - Comprehensive Care Clinic and Projects & Maintenance

The Mater Hospital Comprehensive Care Clinic through donor funding and well wishers continues to respond to the needs of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDs largely the impoverished community around us.

To join the existing team of care givers we are seeking to fill the following positions:

1. Clinical Nurse

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist the clinic team in the daily provision of medical care including medication
  • Coordinate community follow-up of patients initiated on Antiretroviral drugs through community partners, volunteers
  • Encourage adherence and provide counseling to patients and caregivers
  • Actively participate in reach-out campaigns and education on prevention and living with HIV/AIDS
Qualification, Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma in Nursing, VCT Training and Basic HIV/AIDs Counseling Skills
  • At least two (2) years exposure to HIV/AIDS care will be an added advantage
  • Must have genuine interest in community work
2. PITC Counselor

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide pre and post HIV/AIDs test counseling
  • Provide counseling services for patients admitted in the hospital with HIV and AIDs related illnesses in liaison with the Nursing In-charge and Section Heads.
  • Consolidate program reports on counseling & testing activities from various hospital departments
  • Arrange CMEs to provide information /education to peers
  • Participate in community outreach programmes
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree or Diploma in Counseling with additional training in HTC/PITC.
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in a similar position
  • Good listener and highly confidential
  • Mature, compassionate and emotionally stable individual.
  • Should have good communication & PR Skills.
  • Should have the ability to plan, manage and work under pressure without supervision.
3. Social Worker

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing community based social services
  • Community mobilization, capacity building and supervision of volunteers
  • ART adherence and psycho-social and socioeconomic counseling
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Degree or Higher Diploma in Social Work
  • Basic training in HIV/AIDs Counseling, VCT training
  • At least 2 years working experience in similar position
  • Should have the ability to plan, manage and work under pressure without supervision.
Project & Maintenance Department

Projects Supervisor

As the hospital continues to upgrade its facilities to accommodate growth and improve services, we are
seeking a dynamic self-driven individual to: 

  • Monitor and control all project work to ensure works undertaken are quality, timely, meet specifications and within budget
  • Develop contractor work schedule and conduct continuous inspection to verify quality of materials and workmanship throughout the project
  • Ensure contractors take into consideration environmental, health and safety measure through the project
  • Ensure contractors conform to laid down quality systems and legal requirements
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Building & Construction or related field
  • Must be computer literate - Ms Word and Excel, knowledge of AutoCAD or ArchiCAD Software
  • At least 5 years experience in similar position, hospitality experience will be an added advantage
  • A person of integrity, goal oriented, team player who is able to deliver under pressure
