Liverpool VCT, Care & Treatment (LVCT) is an established Kenyan NGO that utilizes research to inform policy reform advocacy and strengthen HIV service delivery.  

We optimize our impact on the HIV/AIDS response by building capacity of partners and pay special attention to vulnerable groups and populations with special needs. 

LVCT’s focus is on the scale-up of quality-assured HIV counseling, testing and care services.

We have a vacancy for the following position:

Position: 
Youth Program Coordinator 

Ref: YPC/LVCT/9/2012
 
Reporting To: Deputy Director / Director of Research & Policy
 
Location: LVCT HQ
 
Overall Purpose
 
Provide leadership, coordination, strategic guidance, fore and oversight for implementation of a comprehensive youth programme with integrated partnership building, policy advocacy, and technical support for HIV service delivery for youth, with a special focus on those at increased vulnerability such as HIV positive youth, survivors of sexual violence, girls, youth with disability and minority youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the policy, research and programme integration for the LVCT youth agenda
  • Ensure the development and delivery of program work plans as per LVCT’s strategic objectives.
  • Ensure maintenance of accurate program data and information resources
  • Develop project and fundraising proposals
  • Prepare and submit program reports on timely basis
  • Represent LVCT at regional level and national /international level forums
  • Provide technical assistance for the one-to-one youth hotline and ICT platform
  • Ensure that service needs of youth are integrated within the institutional planning
  • Provide oversight to the delivery of information, counseling and referral services through information communication technologies in partnership with private sector partners.
  • Contribute to policy forums on youth related SRH and HIV/AIDS issues
  • Maintain and develop high level skills in the use of electronic information and
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • BA in Social Sciences, communications or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with young people, project implementation and coordination
  • Good communication and report writing skills
  • We are looking for a creativity and innovation in developing and implementing ideas that appeal to and are relevant to the youth.
  • Should be able to comfortably work with multiple platforms including Windows, Vista, and design packages such as publisher, Indesign, Adobe Photoshop/Corel Draw.
  • Website management and other ICT experience will be an added advantage.

Position: Research Officer

Reporting To: Research Manager
 
Location: LVCT HQ (Nairobi)
 
The position requires an experienced researcher to lead an operational research project that aims to identify the policy and practice requirements for quality post intimate partner violence (IPV) screening support in HIV programs. 

With technical support from the Principal Investigators, it will be responsible for the design, undertaking, data analysis, management and dissemination of a quality study.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the study protocols
  • Develop implementation and dissemination plans and ensure their utilisation
  • Develop the IPV screening and study tools and undertake the study ensuring compliance with requirements for research ethics and scientific quality
  • Ensure integration with and provide input and feedback to other LVCT programmes
  • Collect, analyse and document data in appropriate formats for diverse audiences
Minimum requirements
  • A Master’s degree in Social Science, Gender or a relevant field from a recognised university.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a lead researcher, a gender focus is an added advantage
  • Experience in analysis of qualitative and quantitative data using the appropriate software
  • Proven research writing ability
