Oxfam in Kenya works
in the north, principally in Turkana, Dadaab and Wajir, Nairobi and on national
level advocacy and coordination issues in multi stakeholder fora. To this end,
we are seeking to fill the following positions:
WASH Team Leader
Lodwar Based
Contract: C2 National - Fixed term; 21 months
Contract: C2 National - Fixed term; 21 months
Reporting to the Deputy Program Manager, the WASH Team Leader will provide day to day operational technical leadership for the planning and implementation of Oxfam GB’s public health programme in Turkana District.
Working with Rift
Valley Water Services Board and two other INGOs – Practical Action and IRC, the
WASH team leader will ensure effective and efficient programme implementation
that is accountable and relevant to beneficiaries according to the objectives,
results, timeframe and specifications of the donor(s).
- To be
successful in this role, you should have at least a first degree in a
relevant field such as Civil Engineering or water Engineering from a
recognised university/college with some experience in public health and
hygiene promotion interventions in emergency situation especially in
drought context and intense relevant practical experience with an
NGO.
- He/she
should have assessment, analytical and planning skills, with an ability to
translate analysis into recommendations for practical action, including proposal
development.
- Knowledge
and experience of the application of SPHERE and links to longer-term
development practice coupled with proven experience of effective
integration of gender in WASH programming.
- He/she
will have knowledge, understanding and a commitment to linking hygiene
promotion with water and sanitation activities coupled with good
communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a
team.
- You
will have diplomacy and tact, to be able to liaise, negotiate and plan with
government officials, other agency staff, local artisans and community
representatives.
- You
will have the ability to cope in remote rural locations and travel
extensively within project areas.
- Knowledge
of local language would be advantageous.
Human Resources Officer
Dadaab Based
Contract: D2 National - Fixed term; 6 months
Contract: D2 National - Fixed term; 6 months
- The
Human Resource & Admin Officer will play a lead role in providing
interpretation of HR policies on a daily basis to the programme
teams.
- He/she
will be required to support the recruitment process and ensure they are in
line with Oxfam procedures.

& Admin Officer will track and manage contract changes in terms of
renewals and reviews. Management of staff holidays will be part of his/her
daily routine while working hand in hand with the

Assistant to ensure that key staff information is up to date.
- You
will ensure that staff medical records are up to date and that all medical
related issues are handled with utmost confidentiality.
- In
liaison with the relevant persons, you will perform other administrative
duties including organization of staff and visitor’s travel, office
maintenance, ensuring procurement of office supplies is done within a
timely period and overseeing that the office layout meets the health and
safety standards.

& Admin Officer will represent Oxfam in HR meetings with other
partners in the area and ensure that any staff issues raised are addressed
effectively.
- To be
successful in this role, you will have a university degree in Human Resources
Management or Business Management coupled with development or humanitarian
work experience preferably with an NGO.
- You
should have good interpersonal and people management skills as well as
excellent written and oral communications skills in English and
Swahili.
- You
should be flexible to travel within short notice and in difficult
circumstances.
Monitoring Evaluation Accountability & Learning
(Meal) Officer Wajir Based
Contract: D2 National - Fixed term; 12 months
Reporting to the Program Manager in Wajir, the MEAL Officer will establish and manage the MEAL system of OXFAM and its partners’ programmes in order to ensure programme quality and effectiveness.
- You
will be responsible for the development of the MEAL system for key OXFAM
Kenya’s programme focus areas of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH),
Food Security and Livelihoods, Policy and Advocacy and Peace Building and
Conflict Management.
- You
will establish a systematic way to jointly monitor programmes,
facilitating internal and external evaluations and document learning from
programmes.
He/she will compile monthly reports, participate in various technical meetings and provide support in the preparation of reporting requirements. - The
post holder will be responsible for the establishing accountability system
and ensure programmes are implemented in an accountable fashion.
- You
will work with the MEAL Coordinator to operationalize the country MEAL
framework ensuring the links between country level MEAL activities and
regional systems.
- The
MEAL officer will be responsible for coordinating assessments and carrying
out data analysis thereby providing requisite information for setting
programme benchmarks.
- He/she
will use various data collection methods including Participatory Rural
Appraisal (PRA) methods and produce various reports.
- To be
considered for this position, you will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s
Degree in International
Development, Public Health, Project Management, Disaster Management or Statistics from a recognized university or closely related fields. - In-depth
demonstrated “hands-on” working experience in MEA is essential.
- You
must have experience in capacity building of partners in MEAL and
conversant with data analysis softwares especially SPSS.
