Brief Description and need of our client
DFID Somalia is part
of the British Office for Somalia based in the British High Commission in
Nairobi, which has 300 staff from 12 UK government departments. DFID Somalia
works closely with colleagues from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and
other departments on both policy and management.
DFID is one of the
largest donors to humanitarian agencies in Somalia and given the increased
attention and budget for health in Somalia as well as the anticipation for the
Somalia programme to double its’ spend by 2013/2014 following the Bilateral Aid
Review, one exciting vacancy has arisen.
The requirements
The requirements
Based out of the
Nairobi office, the Executive Assistant will work closely with the Head of DFID
Somalia and her leadership team by providing administrative support and helping
the team to run DFID Somalia efficiently and in line with DFID policies and
procedures.
The jobholder must
demonstrate evidence of the following:
- Excellent
written and spoken English
- Good IT
skills, including knowledge of Windows Word and Excel applications
- Ability
to learn DFID systems
Due to the nature of the role applicants must be security
cleared to SC status, or demonstrate they can easily obtain such
clearance.
Such clearance is most
easily obtained by UK nationals with at least 3 years residence in the past 10
years in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada or New Zealand. Nationals of the latter
four countries may also be able to get clearance.
Candidates must have a
traceable history over the last 5 years and must be able to demonstrate the
ability to obtain this clearance.
Finally, they must
have the right to live and work in Kenya.
The salary for this
position will be Kshs 124,053 per month before tax.
