Equality and Women’s Empowerment Programming

UN Women under the auspices of the UN Joint Programme on Gender and Women’s Empowerment (JP-GEWE) is procuring the services of a senior consultant to support the development of a database for gender experts and train/develop training modules for different levels of staff on gender programming, M&E at different stages of the UN programming cycle and with different UN (inter-agency) teams.
Specific tasks for the assignment are to:
UN Women under the auspices of the UN Joint Programme on Gender and Women’s Empowerment (JP-GEWE) is procuring the services of a senior consultant to support the development of a database for gender experts and train/develop training modules for different levels of staff on gender programming, M&E at different stages of the UN programming cycle and with different UN (inter-agency) teams.
Specific tasks for the assignment are to:
- Develop
a road map and criteria for the setting up of a gender expert roster for
the UN system in Kenya
- Research
and develop guidelines to integrate gender in every step of the UN
programming cycle and include in training modules as appropriate.
- Conduct
a needs assessment for gender training around the UN programing cycle
targeting the UN Heads of Agency, and other relevant UN interagency teams
(PWG Gender, PCG, M&E working Group).
- Systematically
identify existing training, adapt to local context and/or develop new
training modules.
- Develop
a long-term training roadmap, conduct pilot training and adapt tools as
appropriate.
Education and Competencies
Education:
A Master’s degree in
Gender and development. If a Master’s degree is missing, at least 15 years of
relevant work experience in programming , institutional development &
capacity building in the area of gender and development.

and skill in participatory planning, training and module development;
- Ability
to conduct needs assessments with different categories/levels of UN staff.
- Constructive
attitude and ability to approach work with positive energy;
- Ability
to meet deadlines and deliver under constraints
- Demonstrated
ability to re-organize and adjust plans fast to evolving situation
- Strong
strategic planner with relevant experience with facilitating and
delivering training.
- Understanding
of database development
- Demonstrated
facilitation/training skills
- Demonstrated
strong oral and written communication ability;
- Good
understanding of various planning, monitoring and evaluation frameworks;
- Demonstrated
ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
- Advanced
user level computer skills and strong knowledge of various software
including Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
- Understanding
of the Medium Term Plan Development process of government
