Duration: 11 months

Eligible Candidates: Kenyan and Somali Nationalities    

Anticipated Start Date: 1st October 2012

Under the overall supervision of the Officer in Charge (O.I.C.) FAO Somalia and the direct supervision of the Data Systems and Information Manager will provide support in the implementation of the field programme at the country office level and will support the FSNAU Data systems team in software and hardware. 
 
In particular to: 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Management of the FSNAU external mailing list, ensuring it is updated all the time
  • Managing @fsnau emails and tracking the emails sent after release of publications
  • Assist in developing e-forms for data entry
  • Reactivating the Field Information Communication System (FICS) for Somalia-based travel and security; and ensure it is working at all times
  • Maintain the FSNAU inventory and making regular updates
  • Liaising with other teams, clean and maintain the network drive, ensuring there is space for new files
  • Report to the FAO Somali Admin team on new equipment acquisition and maintain the ADM41 form for reporting to HQ
  • Maintain the printer cartridges inventory and ensure that enough stock is retained by appropriately informing the Operations office
  • Maintain FSNAU Information Management Systems including the integrated database system in collaboration with the database programmers
  • Work closely with the ICT Officer tom ensure there is constant IT support including web mail, management of the mailing list and encouraging proper use of the e-mail system by staff and permissions
Minimum requirements:
  • Higher National Diploma in Information Technology or Diploma in Information Technology and equivalent IT experience and Training
  • At least 2 years experience
  • Competency in computer use including word processing; spreadsheet and web-based technologies
  • Knowledge in programming
  • Previous experience in developing e-forms
  • Ability to work swiftly and efficiently with all staff members with complete neutrality
  • Able to work in a multicultural environment
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills
  • Self-motivated, able to work under minimum supervision and manage own time
  • Creative and solution-base thinker
  • Honest, reliable and responsive to the needs of system users
Selection Criteria
  • Relevance and level of academic qualifications;
  • Extent of experience in programme/project management/implementation and administration;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems expeditiously and pragmatically;
  • Tact, initiative and sound judgement;
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with the UN system;
