Head of Credit - KCB Tanzania
Job Purpose
Based in Tanzania, the role reports to the Managing Director, KCB Tanzania. 

The Head of Credit will be responsible for developing and monitoring all Credit Risk Management activities in the Business including credit assessments, credit administration, and control and monitoring of the lending portfolio and credit recovery.

Key Responsibilities
The major responsibilities of this position will be:-
  • Maintaining a high quality lending portfolio of the business along with commensurate risk based return.
  • Maintaining a high quality of underwriting and presentation standards vis-à-vis Credit Applications
  • Controlling Business’ credit loss rates (PAR management)
  • Providing efficient service TATs (Turn-Around-Time) to the business
  • Contributing to bottom line numbers
  • Ensuring product profitability is maintained
  • Managing the credit risk elements of business
  • Represent the company in court if required
  • Prepare monthly credit risk management reports
  • Comply with the company’s credit policy and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead and manage the Credit Risk team.
  • Perform other credit control related duties assigned by the Managing Director
The Person
For the above position, the successful applicant should have:-
  • A post graduate degree preferably with specialization in finance. Additional professional degrees and accreditations would be preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years or more experience of which the last 5 years should have been in credit & risk related functions.
  • Strong understanding of operational, legal and credit risk across the full range of industries.
  • Demonstrable a successful track record of credit approval and recommendation.
  • Knowledge of Risk Rating Models and Basel II.
  • In depth knowledge of Credit Administration, Credit Analysis, and Restructuring.
  • Managerial experience - requirement to be both a team player and a leader and with substantial experience in managing a team.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to translate desired business concepts to actual processes for implementation.
  • Excellent report writing, communication and presentation skills required both in the preparation of policies / strategies & presentation of the same to Senior Management.
