The Coffee Board of
Kenya (CBK) is a State Corporation established under the Coffee Act No. 9 of
2001.
The Board is a non-
Profit, Regulatory & Service oriented, Corporate body under the Ministry of
Agriculture & is charged with the responsibility of promoting
competitiveness in the Coffee Industry, Production, Processing and Branding of
Kenyan Coffee and generally to regulate the Coffee Industry in the Public
interest.

1. Information Communication & Technology (ICT) Assistant

Duties &
Responsibilities
This is a one (1) year
renewable contract.
Reporting to the ICT
Officer 1, the ICT Assistant shall be responsible for:
- Data
entry
- Technical
support to users
- Minor
repairs & Maintenance of computer hardware and software
- Recording
all raw data files
- Training
of Users
- Any
other relevant duties as assigned from time to time
Requirements for Appointment
- Diploma
in computer science/ IT or equivalent
- Certified
CompTIA Network+ or equivalent
- Two (2)
years relevant working experience(iv) skills and experience in a networked
environment & use of Navision ERP and statistical applications such as
SPSS/ Statistica.
- Good
understanding of data management
- Be
fluent in English and Kiswahili
2. Legal Officer

Duties and
Responsibilities
This is a one (1) year
renewable contract.
Reporting to the Head
of Legal, an officer at this level will be responsible for:
- Representing
the Board on all legal matters
- Handling
cases regarding bank guarantees and performance bonds
- Ensuring
proper custody & documentation of Board’s Assets
- Advising
the Board on matters regarding arbitration and litigation
- Coordinating
external lawyers on cases involving the Board
- Coordinate
preparation of leases
- Preparation
of contracts with Board’s service providers
- Legal
Review of legislative framework of the Coffee Industry
- Undertake
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to
this position, applicant must:-
- Have a
Degree in law (LLB) from a recognized institution,
- Have a
Diploma in legal studies – Kenya School of Law
- Be a
member of a Professional Body and hold a valid practicing certificate in
Kenya from a recognized institution.
- Have at
least two (2) years experience in a similarposition from a recognized
organization
- Have
excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal
relations
- Have
very high Integrity
- Be
fluent in English and Kiswahili, and
- Be
computer literate.
3. Accountant II

Duties and
Responsibilities
This is a Permanent
& Pensionable position.
Reporting to the Head-
Finance, an officer at this level will be responsible for: -
- Originating
support documents for financial transactions
- Maintenance
of support registers under direction
- Assist
in preparation & Verification of vouchers and committal documents in
accordance with laid down rules and regulations
- Assist
in reconciling subsidiary ledger tallies with the General Ledger
- Assist
in safe custody of Board records and assets under him/her
- Undertake
Bank reconciliations
- Assist
in preparation of Payroll
- Assist
in reconciling the levy remission and balances reports
- Undertake
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to
this position, applicant must:-
- Have a
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting or
Finance option), from a recognized institution or a related equivalent
qualification.
- Have a
Certified Public Accountants (CPA II) certificate or its equivalent
- Have
served in a similar position for a minimum period of three (3) years
- Be of
high integrity
- Be
fluent in English and Kiswahili, and
- Be
computer literate.
4. Personal Secretary I

Duties and
Responsibilities
This is a Permanent
& Pensionable position.
The officer will work
in the Managing Director’s office and will be responsible for:
- Drafting
letters and typing from drafts
- Operating
and managing office equipment in their custody
- Attending
to visitors/clients, handling telephone calls, emails and appointments
- Ensuring
security & Confidentiality of office records and documents
- Effective
management of office protocol and media issues
- Maintain
Confidential Records and filing
- Handling
issues relating to the Secretarial Cadre in a Department.
- Undertake
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to
this position, applicant must:-
- Have a
Bachelors Degree in Business and Office Management or equivalent
qualifications from a recognized institution
- Have
served in the grade of Personal Secretary/Administrative Assistant I or
any other relevant position for a minimum period of three (3) years
- Have
the following qualifications from Kenya National Examination Council: -
Shorthand III (110wpm), Typewriting III (50wpm)/ Computerized document
processing III, Office Management III, Business English III/Communications
II, Secretarial duties II and Commerce II
- Have
demonstrated professional competence in management of secretarial services
and Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
- Have
attended a Secretarial Management Course from Kenya Institute of
Administration or Government Training Institution
- Must
have good temperament
- Be
fluent in English and Kiswahili
- Must be
computer literate
5. Procurement Officer

Ref: CBK/PO/05/08/2012
This is a Permanent
& Pensionable position.
Reporting to the
Managing Director an officer at this level will be responsible for:
- Assist
in developing and implementing procurement policy in line with the Public
Procurement Act 2005 and Regulations 2006
- Assist
in formation of requisite Procurement and Disposal Committees of the Board
- Secretary
to the Tender and Disposal Committee of the Board
- Preparing
Annual Procurement and Disposal plans
- Ensuring
update of the service providers register is undertaken annually
- Advertise
procurement and disposal needs in line with the Public Procurement &
Disposal Laws in place
- Ensuring
safe custody, recording and dispersal of consumables
- Any
other duties assigned by the Managing Director.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to
this position, applicant must:-
- Have a
Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement Studies from a recognized institution or
- Have a
Degree in Business Related or Social Science Studies and a have a Diploma
in Procurement and Supplies Management
- Have
served in a similar position for a period of at least five (5) years in a
reputable organization
- Have
shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
- Have
exposure of the Public Procurement & Disposal Laws in force
- Be a
member of a Professional Body
- Be of
very high integrity
- Be
fluent in English & Kiswahili, and
- Be
computer literate.
