plans to build its own inland fibre optic network.
To support the Fiber Deployment Project, we are looking for a
Project Manager who will manage the Fiber Deployment Project end to end.
We are looking for a Project Manager who meets the criteria
indicated below:

Reporting to the Executive Business Analysis_ Project Management Office, the Consultant will be responsible for Project management of The Safaricom Fiber Deployment Project and ensuring an integrated and well thought out project plan for the roll out of The Safaricom Optic Fiber.
The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:
- Manage
all project resources to ensure timely delivery of project;
- Manage
allocated budget and ensure delivery within budget;
- Prepare,
maintain and periodically update the project plan;
- Prepare
and issue project progress reports as per plan;
- Manage
the contracts Project manager;
- Define
and manage internal project teams objectives and KPI’s within project
cycle and at the end of project;
- Liaise
and provide regular project updates to the relevant stakeholders as per
the defined communication plan;
- Pro-actively
manage selected contractors to achieve given targets;
- Identify
and managed project risks including escalations as applicable;
- Ensure
that project implementation is done in accordance with the Company’s
health and safety policies
- Investigate
project disputes and resolve or recommend appropriate action;
- Analyze
project changes request and resolve or recommend appropriate action
to the Safaricom change control board for approval ;
- Manage
tracking register for all works issued to the contractors.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Bachelor’s
Degree in Commerce or a Technical field – Engineering or Information
Technology from a recognized university;
- Project
Management Certification, PMP/Prince2 or equivalent qualification;
- Minimum
10 years technology vendor management experience, with solid background in
IT infrastructure, fibre cabling, LAN, IP Backbone;
- Sound
knowledge in Optical Fibre Cable laying, splicing and testing;
- Knowledge
on latest execution techniques;
- Good
technical knowledge of Fiber, OSP and acceptance criteria;
- Experience
of civil works associated with Optical Fibre Cable Network, water or oil
pipeline build projects Construction preferably in Sub Saharan Africa;
- Demonstrable
experience in management of budgets in large complex projects;
- Knowledge
and experience in way leave approval process preferably in Sub Saharan
Africa;
- People
and Financial Management skills;
- Good
internal, cross-functional and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent
communication and presentation skills ;
- Strong
contractor/sub-contractor management skills ;
- Strong
process management skills;
- A
highly motivated person with a positive attitude towards work;
- Innovative,
creative, results oriented with excellent analytical skills;
- A
proven team player.

position is based in Nairobi, Kenya. If you are NOT a Kenyan Citizen, You will
