Kirinyaga Water and Sanitation Company is a Water Service
contracted by Tana Water Services Board through a Service Provision Agreement to
provide water and sanitation services under its licence within kirinyaga County
under the Water Act 2002.
Managing Director
(based in Kerugoya)
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director is the principal officer of the Company and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Company
Major responsibilities include:
- Developing
for the approval of the Board, strategic and business plans, including
annual work-plans, budget and performance targets
- Ensuring
effective implementation of the company’s Strategic Plan
- Ensuring
safe custody and management of the company’s assets.
- Providing
strategic leadership and direction, including the management and
development of the human resources of the company.
- Planning,
coordinating and implementing all activities of the company in line with
the policies and directives approved by the Board of Directors.
- Ensuring
proper management, operational efficiency and corporate reporting
requirement of the Company.
- Promoting
the company’s image and developing a good working relationship with all
stakeholders and partners.
- Ensuring
compliance with Government policies and regulations.
- Provide
advice to the Board of Directors on matters related to the operation of
the Company.
- Liaison
with the Licensee and ensuring compliance with the Service Provision
Agreement.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate should have practical skills, experience and a demonstrable track record in managing a large and dynamic department or organization. Specifically, the candidate must have:
- A
Bachelors degree in Civil/Water Engineering, Business related field,
Environmental Science or a related water science from a recognized
University or a degree in, Economics or Commerce or equivalent plus
training in Business Management.
- Either
a minimum of 8 years experience in water and sewerage development,
management and operations, 5 of which must have been in a senior
management position or a minimum of 5 years experience in an executive
role within a large service delivery organisation.
- A
sound understanding of the reforms taking place in the water sector in
Kenya.
- Good
unblemished record in management, high level of integrity,
results-oriented, managerial and administrative skills backed up by a
demonstrable track record.

Technical Manager
Overall Job Responsibility
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Technical manager will ensure that all the technical resources of the company are well managed.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Directing,
coordinating, controlling, monitoring and managing the company’s technical
operations and ensuring good operations and maintenance of infrastructure
for quality water and sanitation services
- Designing
all projects to be undertaken by the company
- Ensuring
that the water is treated and that the quality meets WHO standards
- Ensuring
that Unaccounted For Water (UFW) is reduced to acceptable levels
- Ensuring
proper management of the technical assets
- Developing
departmental strategies, targets, policies, procedures and plans to
facilitate achievement of overall company’s objectives
- Taking
responsibility for training, development and motivation of the
departmental staff
- Ensuring
that the needs of the customer are effectively met
- Any
other duties allocated by the Managing Director
Job Specification
- BSC
Civil/Water Engineering from a reputable University.
Those registered with professional bodies will have an added
advantage
- Minimum
of five (5) years and relevant post qualification working experience in a
busy water sector institution, three of which must be in a senior position
- Have
demonstrated ability to manage water and sanitation utilities with sound
innovations
- Ability
to work unsupervised and on own initiative
- Good
report writing, communication skills and team player
- Conversant
with the public Procurement and Disposal Act 2005 and Disposal Regulations
2006
- Computer
Literate and have Auto CAD knowledge
