About the SAFI Trust and Innovations for Poverty Action:

Safi Trust is a non-for profit organization that is concerned with the improvement of the welfare and wellbeing of rural and peri-urban communities through the development and implementation of various projects to help in poverty reduction while its affiliate organization, Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), is a non-profit research organization that creates and evaluates approaches to solving development problems. IPA disseminates the results of its evaluations to policymakers

Job Description:

Field Officers will work individually and in a team to administer surveys to administrative and community leaders and the community members where necessary.

They will organize data in the field, compile survey information, translate between English and Swahili, and complete other tasks required for the project or assigned by a supervisor.

Though Field Officers will be based in Nairobi, most of the work will be undertaken in Central, Eastern and some parts of Rift Valley Provinces.

Working outside of standard business hours in either morning, evening or on weekends will sometimes be necessary.

Work Duration: Successful applicants will initially be hired on a six months contract. Those who demonstrate consistent exceptional performance and ability will be considered for a long term placement/contract. 

Qualifications and requirements:
  • A diploma/certificate in social sciences, arts, education or any related field.
  • Experience in data collection through household surveys, academic tests, exit interviews, focus groups or observations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
  • Excellent note taking ability during interviews and focus groups discussions.
  • Willingness to travel within Embu, Meru, Masaku, Murang’a and Nairobi counties every week.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Team player.
  • Ready to start immediately.
Remuneration.

Field officers shall receive a starting salary of 8,000/= per month. They shall also be given 1,200/= daily as the Daily Sustenance Allowance and airtime allowances every time they go to the field.
