Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Senior Management Team, the Supply Chain Manager will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with possibility of displacements to Embu County.
The Supply Chain Manager will take responsibility and accountability for coordination of Procurement & Supply Chain Management function.
She/he
will
- Ensure
stoves are procured and supplied timely in a very cost effective manner
with least inventory, and quality control and respect
- Coordinate
with suppliers (production Engineer, workshop teams and artisans) to
produce high quality, sustainable, and locally adapted improved wood
stoves which meet the thermal efficiency and life duration required.
- Follow
up testing and improvement on the cookstove design, if and when needed
- Manage
the Logistic flows of materials including manufacturing, storage, and
delivery to the distribution areas
Key areas of activity:
- Key
success factors: planning, quality and cost control, integrity of the
supply chain
- Accountable
for developing and implementing a plan that delivers performance results
in alignment with Company objectives
- Coordinate
the Procurement and Supply Chain Management Function in dealing with
price, quality and timing issues with the suppliers
- Leverage
the volumes and manage relations with suppliers (on commercial, quality,
and planning aspects)
- Work
on cost reduction measures
- Maintain
a complete and updated database and manage identification, negotiation and
selection of stoves’ assemblers
- Manage
and follow up the approved assemblers’ portfolio.
- Ensure
compliance of statutes and Policy guidelines of Climate Pal and Investors.
- Constantly
improve technical skills of suppliers through training courses’
organization
Key Attributes Required:
- Technical
degree (Engineer diploma is a plus).
- Experience
in performing quality control procedures
- Proven
skills in relations with suppliers
- Good
Knowledge of manufacturers and suppliers field in Kenya is requested
- Good
negotiation skills and cost consciousness
- Honesty,
reliability and interpersonal skills
- Excellent
knowledge in Excel
- Fluency
in English and Kiswahili is requested
Additional competencies
- A
diploma or relevant skills in Procurement will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge
of ceramic and metal sheet products procurement like liners, tiles,
appropriate technology apparatus which are changing rural lives is a plus
- Work
experience in Procurement or Supply Chain functions in a unit/
organization and full knowledge and experience in purchase procedures.
- Knowledge
of climate change business and demonstration of clarity on climate change
business will be an added advantage
