The AIDS Support Organization (TASO Uganda), is an indigenous
organisation spearheading the fight against HIVIAIDS through HIV prevention,
care and support services.
Our mission is to contribute the process of preventing new HIV
infections, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons,
families and communities affected by HIV and AIDS.
S/he will assist the TASO Board of Trustees in fulfilling its
mandate and providing overall strategic leadership and management of TASO, in
the pursuit of our mission and strategic goals.
Key Outputs
- Strategic
plan development.
- Adequate
resource mobilisation for the attainment of the strategic plans.
- Appropriate
organisational policies and systems formulated and implemented to ensure
effective and efficient management in the organisation.
- Effective
oversight of programme implementation to ensure attainment of the set
goals.
- Provide
Secretarial services to the Board of Trustees and ensuring that they are
up-to-date on key strategic issues.
- Productive
relationship with donors, partners and other stakeholders maintained.
- Effective
advocacy for TASO and the fight against HIV/AIDS carried out.
- Regular
reports to all partners and stakeholders produced and disseminated as
required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead
the formulation of TASO strategic and development plans, formulation and
review of policies when appropriate, and recommend the plans and policies
to the Board of Trustees for approval.
- Provide
strategic guidance in the mobilization of funds and other resources
required for the effective implementation of TASO activities and oversee
the preparation of proposals for resource mobilisation support to TASO.
- Mobilise
adequate resources for the implementation of TASO programmes.
- Identify,
negotiate, and nurture strategic partnerships with other development
partners to access additional resources for TASO.
- Direct
the establishment of effective and efficient management and operating
structures and systems.
- Provide
appropriate direction and guidance for programme management and take other
necessary measures to ensure that TASO operations are effective and
efficient.
- Oversee
program reviews and evaluations to ensure that TASO operations remain
relevant and responsive to the clients’ needs in the best possible manner
within the available resources.
- Foster
strong and productive teamwork among the top manage ment of TASO and
establish a teamwork culture at all levels of TASO.
- Maintain
oversight of financial control, and the appropriate and judicious
utilisation of funds and other resources under TASO’s care, in accordance
with relevant policies, agreements, regulations and legislation.
- Provide
strategic and policy guidance on TASO advocacy programme and the
partnerships between TASO and other organizations/bodies.
- Provide
Secretarial services to the TASO BOT; convene meetings of the Board of
Trustees as required and provide the necessary support and guidance.
- Keep
the Board of Trustees up-dated on key program develop ments and decisions
taken by management and submit to the Board for their approval or noting,
proposals and other issues requiring their attention.
- In
consultation with the Deputy Executive Director, direct and guide the
preparation of work plans, budgets, routine progress reports and adhoc
reports on TASO activities.
Academic Qualifications
- Master’s
Degree in Health related field or Social Sciences with additional training
of a Postgraduate degree in Health Management or Training in institutional
management.
- Minimum
Experience and Exposure:
- 10
years in institutional management; at least 5 of which should have been at
senior management level in an organisation offering services similar to
those of TASO.

knowledge, with a bias in HIV/AIDS.
- Basic
interventions of HIV/AIDS, and rights of people living with HIV/AIDS.
- The
HIV/AIDS situation in Uganda and the rest of the world.
- Developments
and trends in HIV/AIDS care ¡n Uganda and internationally.
- Potential
sources of support for HIV/AIDS care activities.
- National
and international legislations and policies relating to HIV/AIDS.
- Monitoring
and evaluation principles.
