Job Title: Programme Advisor, Kenya
Reporting to: Programme Manager Kenya
Based: Nairobi with approx. 40% travel to Kenya and
Somalia
Duration: 4 years
LPI's work in Kenya focuses on enhancing the resilience of
communities to engage with conflict in nonviolent and constructive ways, so
that sustainable arrangements for the management of resources are developed and
enforced, and at the same time synergies between local and national efforts are
created so that the pattern of neglect from central power is interrupted and
more attention and resources are devoted to the targeted area, and the current
conflicts in the area targeted by the programme can be transformed.
Job purpose:
Your responsibility is two-fold:
- You
are responsible for supporting the implementation of the Kenya
Programme;
- You
are responsible for the design and implementation of Organisational
Development (OD) plans for LPI’s Partner Organisations (PO) in Kenya and
Somalia.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Supporting the implementation of the Kenya Programme:
- You
support the planning, implementation and reporting of all programme
activities.
- You
support projects with POs and monitor compliance with contractual
responsibilities.
- You
ensure that all data concerning the programme are filed in both hard and
soft copies in an orderly and centralised system.
- You
make yourself available in order to support POs on issues that are
relevant to the success of the programme.
Organisational Development:
- You
lead the assessment of POs’ administration, finance and programme
capacities and produce written assessment reports for decision making by
the Programme Manager Kenya and the Programme Manager Somalia.
- You
write one OD plan for each PO in Kenya and Somalia, encompassing all
programme, administration and finance dimensions.
- You
coordinate the implementation of the OD plan, including management of
activities, outsourcing and budget control.
- In
collaboration with the Programme Advisors - Monitoring & Evaluation,
for Kenya and for Somalia, you monitor progress towards OD expected
results and apply adjustments in order to maximise effectiveness and
efficiency.
Work Relationships: Resident Representative,
Administration and Finance Unit, Partners in Kenya and Somalia, Programme
Advisors, Head Office in Sweden, Third parties as needed.
Skills and qualifications required:
- Professional
experience project work in peacebuilding and/or development fields.
- Professional
experience in Organisational Development.
- University
degree in management, education, development studies or other relevant
field. Master’s preferred, Bachelor with relevant skills and experience
(5+ years) may be considered.
- Good
analytical writer (English).
- Fluency
in Swahili language is a requirement, Somali language would be a plus.
- Demonstrated
interest in peacebuilding and organisational development, experience in
NGO programme work a strong asset.
- Able
to travel to field locations in Kenya and South-Central Somalia.
- Balanced,
mature personality with developed diplomatic skills, able to cope with
working in stressful environments.
- Eager
and flexible mind, willing to acquire new skills on the job.
- The
candidate does not require a work permit to work in Kenya.
