Intern -Legal  Clerk 


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for arranging, describing, preserving and providing access to records with long-term, historical value.
  • Manages archives and records center, in coordination with KEC Commissions
  • Designs information delivery systems, in conjunction with KEC Commissions
  • Writes records retention schedules, researching retention periods as necessary.
  • Performs inventories of active and inactive record storage areas and coordinates scheduling of records disposition; recommends active and inactive records storage periods, in coordination with KEC Commissions Heads
  • Processes records according to archival principles and standards and creates finding aids and indexes for internal and external use.
  • Preserves records by identifying endangered materials and level of conservation work needed; provides basic repair and preventive preservation for paper records.
  • Maintains archival collections management information, including up-to-date shelf list inventory and transfer records.
  • Researches, plans, develops and implements long and short-range goals for the archives and records center, in coordination with the KEC Commissions
  • Drafts policies and procedures related to records management for review, as appropriate
  • Recommends and assists with implementation of records storage and indexing solution
  • develop databases and information access systems
  • Presents records management training for staff
  • Assist in handling  of legal matters
Qualifications
  • Has a minimum of LLB Degree / and a Diploma from Kenya School of Law
Experience/Age
  • Has  no less than 1  year  relevant working experience; and
  • Considerable knowledge of contemporary archival and records management principles and practices;
  • considerable knowledge of creating and maintaining databases, preferably Microsoft Access; knowledge of descriptive cataloging principles
  • Very good  organizational skills
  • expert computer indexing
  • Proficiency in interpersonal communications
  • Is of no less than 23 years of age.

  • Extent of carrying out duties and responsibility in #2 above.

  • Is a committed Catholic, with good recommendation from own Parish Priest
  • Is a person of attested integrity, with high degree of stewardship of resources
