Position Title: Agricultural Inputs Officer
Grade Level: KP1
Contract Type: Service Contract (National Project Personnel)
Organizational Unit: Somalia Country Office (FAO-Somalia)
Duration: 9 months with possible extension for project duration

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
FAO Somalia – Country Office in Nairobi is seeking to employ an
Agricultural Inputs Officer.
Under the general supervision of the Officer in Charge for
Somalia and under the direct supervision of the Agriculture Sector Coordinator
and Head, Inputs and Knowledge Sector, the Agricultural Inputs Officer will be
responsible for the following tasks:

Support the Agriculture sector technical operations • Assist in
identifying procurement needs and compilation of specification requirements for
procurement of materials, agricultural inputs; and services as per the FAO
guidelines
·
Assist in drafting of contracts and letters of agreement to be
issued for services providers.
·
Update on agricultural inputs distribution under various
projects
·
Organize consultation meetings with all key implementing
partners of agricultural projects on a regular basis and coordinate the
activities with the partners
·
Reporting any challenges or constraints in a timely manner and
ensure timely and effective response
·
Receive, revise and provide first assessment of field reports
(weekly, interim and final reports)
·
Track record of achievements made by purchase orders and letters
of agreements against work plan
·
Providing regular updates on project implementation to HQ/donors
in close collaboration with the information and monitoring officers
·
Perform any other duty and activity upon instructions of the
Head, Inputs and knowledge Unit; Agriculture Sector Coordinator or the Officer
in Charge for Somalia
Key Performance
indicators
·
Timely implementation of agricultural projects
·
Timely and effective follow up of input distribution
·
Timeliness and accuracy of all reports prepared as required
·
Database managed appropriately and information shared whenever
needed.
·
Effective communication within the sector and all the other key
partners effected and running smoothly.
Minimum requirements:
·
A relevant degree in Agriculture, Project Management or
International relations
·
At least three years professional experience in project
implementation
·
Previous work experience in the UN environment will be
considered an advantage
·
Significant Project Management experience especially on input
distribution with previous experience with Somalia/Somali people is desirable
·
Good communication and writing skills
·
Ability to work effectively with people of different national
and cultural backgrounds
·
Good Knowledge of computers especially Microsoft office package
·
Good command of English
Selection Criteria
·
Relevance and level of academic qualifications
·
Relevance and quality of work experience in project
implementation with focus on agriculture inputs distribution
·
Extent of technical knowledge of contractual issues particularly
as applied to publicly funded entities
·
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in
writing
·
Ability to identify and analyze complex inputs issues, and
propose timely effective solutions
·
Tact, initiative and sound judgement, and negotiation skills
·
Written Test.
