Our Client is a leading agribusiness and food company with integrated operations which circle the globe, stretching from the farm field to the retail shelf. 

Our client seeks to fill a senior management position of Finance Manager for their Kenyan Office.

Role Purpose Statement:    

The Finance Manager will be solely responsible for the Planning, Organising, Directing, Controlling and Coordinating of all financial activities within the organisation; including accounting, financial & management reporting; tax and compliance advisory as well as risk management.


Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Finance Manager will support the growth of the organisation countrywide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish accounting ledgers and processes (incl: monitoring accounting services provider) that enable the unit to support reporting, local statutory and tax requirements (timelines, accuracy, completeness, and integrity) and that capture business transactions in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure accurate compiling of financial information and preparation of entries in ledger for all business transactions in compliance with local requirement and the organisation’s standards and best practices
  • Comply with monthly, quarterly, and yearly organisation’s US GAAP financial reporting policies and procedures, and management reporting requirement.
  • Together with the General Manager, ensure compliance with all local and US laws and the organisation’s code of ethics.
  • Manage the planning, forecasting, and management reporting cycles, establishing and monitoring key business indicators and adding value to the business through sound analysis and risk assessment, and proactive recommendations
  • Together with the General Manager, be the owner of the financial results and have a comprehensive understanding of the main drivers and health of business and have an active role in corrective action plans.
  • Ensure strong controls and processes are in place for key business activities such as credit; trade capture and confirmation, commodity position reporting, trade accrual and position valuation (conversion costs);  FX risk; warehousing and inventory management; execution, cash management (including OPWC and cash flow management), PNL estimate to actual reconciliations where relevant and ensure compliance with BEMEA policies.
  • The primary point of contact for internal and external auditors.
  • Manage the reporting unit’s tax affairs (income and indirect), ensuring compliance with relevant laws and undertaking tax planning and optimization in liaison with BEMEA tax department.
  • Support the IT / IS department in implementing and optimizing the organisation’s business applications as well as in systems development (e.g. defining requirements / specifications).
Essential Educational Qualifications and Certificates
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Economics from a recognized University
  • A qualified accountant (CPA(K) / ACCA) or CFA
  • 7 years plus experience in Senior Management in Financial Management
  • A Masters in Business Administration or related field will be an added advantage
Knowledge Skills and Experience
  • Financial/ Control Background
  • Experience in developing new activities / office
  • Worked in an international trading environment
  • Knowledge of US GAAP particularly as it relates to international trading business
  • Experience in the agribusiness industry will be an added advantage
