Finance Manager Job in Kenya


Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University is an international NGO supporting health programs to improve the health of women and their families. 

Jhpiego-Kenya works in close collaboration with both the Ministry of Medical Services and the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation in the areas of HIV, Malaria, TB, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Reproductive Health and Family Planning.

Jhpiego is implementing APHIAplus KAMILI, a five year $ 100 million project funded by USAID. The project contributes to the overall USAID framework goal of ‘Sustained improvement of health and well-being for all Kenyans’. 

The project implemented in Eastern and Central provinces of Kenya; focuses on key result areas of USAID implementation framework which are; increased use of quality health services, products and information and social determinants of health addressed to improve well-being of targeted communities and populations.
 
We are currently recruiting Senior Finance and Administration Manager who is a team player, dedicated, highly motivated and willing to work in a high pressure office requiring multi-tasking.

Senior Finance Manager

The Senior Finance Manager will be responsible for financial support to project field offices and related programs to ensure the smooth running of the field offices. 

This includes supervision and implementation of financial and grants operations of the project. The position is based in Nairobi with very frequent travel to the field.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide financial and grants technical advice to all project staff for effective program implementation.
  • Manage the effective utilization of projects financial management system to ensure accurate financial tracking, reporting and in compliance with Jhpiego policies, donor and legal requirements.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship of staff and ensure team spirit within the finance and grants team.
  • Review and implement policies, procedures and systems to ensure effective internal controls are in place and are adhered to.
  • Review and administer sub-agreements, monitor partner and grants payments and the compliance to award terms and conditions.
  • Assist program staff to develop work plans and annual budgets for the project and the office costs.
  • Examine financial documents to ensure the completeness, accuracy and validity.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors and ensure prompt implementation of their recommendations.
  • Serve as the key personnel on the project and represent the Jhpiego and the project in high level meetings with partners.
  • Work with the F&A Director and the Chief of Party to implement financial and grants management systems
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports for management and donor purposes.
Required Qualifications:
  • A Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent
  • Qualified accountant with CPA(K), ACCA or equivalent
  • 10 years of post-qualification experience in financial and grants management with at least 5 years in a senior position in a reputable NGO or development agency
  • Ability to communicate and to confidently engage with high ranking government and donor partners
  • Trustworthy and track record of impeccable integrity
  • Conversant with USAID financial guidelines/regulations
  • Computer literacy, particularly working knowledge of QuickBooks and MS office
